  5. Poppies as far as the eye can see – what could be better? The last photo and the Antelope Valley photo show how they spread out – wow, amazing. I like ‘Lead the Way’ and the little flowers poking through in the next photo. They’re delightful to take in vicariously but I do wish I were there! Thank you. 🙂

  7. I feel gaudy when I wear orange (despite being a Syracuse grad ..ha ha) but oh my gaud…it looks so good in your photos of that outrageous super bloom. Bloom On! Love your collections.

  8. One of my favorite colors for flowers. This is one of the rare times I envy my brother’s location. He lives about an hour’s drive north of there.

  9. Whoa!!! The rains bring superblooms. How lovely of you to share this exuberant display! (For those of us who couldn’t make it to see in real life! 😍)
Thank you so much for sharing. 🙏

    • Hi Gunta, Woah, is right! Pretty amazing to see. We were there on Easter Sunday and managed well despite the crowds. It’s fun to see everyone taking in such a special place, even though a little solitude would’ve been nice, too. I imagine you’re having some good blooms near you at this point. I’ve been all over the place shooting flowers! Thanks so much for looking.

      • You have me thinking that I must have experienced ‘super blooms’ those first years in California (without realizing it). I have this picture in my mind of the fields covered in a combination of california poppies and purple lupine (what a combination!!!)…. it’s something I’ve tried to recreate in our yard, but of course it’s not quite the same. This year our springtime blooms are quite a bit behind schedule due to the extended storms we’ve had. I compared pics of plants blooming the last couple of years and we are at least two weeks behind where we were then. But I think they’re just getting started.

        • I bet you saw super blooms and just thought, that’s the way it is in California! The years I’ve been here it is apparently cyclical. I hope it’s not another five years before the next! Hope your spring is springing soon. 🌺☀️

  12. Wow, what stunning sights! I think I agree with Frank Sinatra, orange is a truly happy colour 😀 I especially love ‘Poppies and Goldfields’, the combination of the two flower species is very special.

  14. What an astonishing show! I looked up the Sinatra quotation, thinking it must be a song lyric (“Tangerine”?) but I guess the guy just loved orange.
Then it’s off to the races with Hindus, Buddhists, Greek Muses and Home Depot all wearing that color. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an orange poppy, only red, but now I really want to!

  18. Gorgeous captures, Jane! We were so happy to see these same sights along Hwy 15 between Corona and north San Diego County 2 weeks ago on our road trip! I love how the poppies and yellow daisies all intermingle!

    • Thanks, Jane. I just realized with your comment that I misnamed the flower…it’s a Fiddleneck. (Was probably thinking of fiddlehead ferns…) The fiddlenecks dominate the fields and at times obscure the poppies with their height. Pretty.

    • Thank you, Stephen. I’m thrilled that it’s a super bloom year. During the drought I feared we’d never see it again. Pleased you enjoyed the photos, and the last shot- I love having people in landscapes for perspective. 😊
