Raindrops Keep Falling

“Raindrops keep falling on my head

But that doesn’t mean my eyes will soon be turning red

Crying’s not for me

‘Cause I’m never gonna stop the rain by complaining

Because I’m free

Nothing’s worrying me”

~B.J. Thomas

“Let the stormy clouds chase.
Everyone from the place,
Come on with the rain
I have a smile on my face.
I´ll walk down the lane
With a happy refrain
Just singin’, singin’ in the rain.”

~Arthur Freed

  1. Beautiful captures, Jane! There’s something magical about raindrops on lovely flowers. Almost makes me appreciate our rain… though it really could stop anytime now. As much as I enjoy rainy days, enough is enough.
Such a delight to visit. Better late than never? 💞

  6. Jane, you have mastered this! Each one is exciting but those dancing drops in ‘Another World’ stopped me in my tracks. Choosing favorites becomes awfully difficult…but the clean & shiny succulent has something extra. I think it’s the way the leaf pattern is so regular and handsome, then you see the raindrops in a random pattern and it really comes to life. But it still feels calm. It’s hard to put into words. Another idea is that the leaf pattern on its own is like a sophisticated design you might see in any number of places – architecture, fabric, etc. – but the raindrops signal that it’s “real life” so there’s a nice tension. Fabulous light in that one, too. The poppy is such an upbeat, happy sight and the dripping raindrops in the final photo feel pregnant in the best way. 🙂
But maybe CA doesn’t need a 13th atmospheric river!!! Enough!

    • Thanks so much, Lynn. Love reading your interpretations. Yes, agree that nature’s designs are the inspiration in many fields. As I mentioned to Sarah here, I wish I could take credit for the timing on the bouncing raindrops, in reality, they are suspended on a spider web! It has been fun to celebrate the rain. 😊☔️

  8. Jane, gorgeous photography as usual, and your titles are extra cheeky: Sweaty Palm especially. Lovely sense of playfulness.

  9. A true gift to see all these stunning rain photos, Jane. I really liked both happy rain tunes, too. Smiled at the “Sweaty Palm” caption. Every photo was a work of art, but my favorite was “Beaded.” An unusual succulent, beautiful with the red-margined leaves; the water so refreshing and the angle, intimate.

    • Thanks very much, Jet. You’re one of the few who smiled at Sweaty Palm…couldn’t resist. It’s always a wonderful surprise to see the droplets after a rain. I’m wondering if that red-margined succulent is a type of Agave. So beautiful. I’m pleased you enjoyed these close-ups- such fun to create.

  12. Wonderful images, even if I have had more than enough of rain over here in London – we’ve had an exceptionally wet March and can’t wait for some spring sunshine! My favourite images are I think the first three, plus Another World, That’s such a perfectly timed shot, with those bouncing raindrops in the centre 😮

    • Hi Sarah, As wet as it’s been, I haven’t gotten sick of the rain since CA was in such dire straits. Now, I think we are in good shape and the sun has emerged! I’m so glad you enjoyed this set and those shots in particular. I would love to take credit for my timing on the “bouncing” raindrops, however, they are suspended on a spider web. 😄 The magic of photography! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

  15. Excellent set, Jane! Love’m all; if I have to pick a favorite, it would be Beaded with those rusty-red, yellow edges around the pale grey-green leaves. See you!

  20. beautiful shots Jane!
You are photographing people……… We are composed mostly of water. When we die that water goes back into circulation. So there is a good chance this water came from people/other animals.
Water makes life for both flora and fauna.

    • Thanks so much, Andrew. We are fine, thanks. Terrible for many who were flooded and trapped but positive for the drought conditions. Hoping it made a permanent dent in the state. Appreciate your visit and warm wishes. 🤗☔️

  26. Clean and shiny is my favourite, Jane. I gather you’ve had lots of opportunity for rainy shots lately and a lot of damage. Too much of a good thing?

  30. Beautiful and peaceful. I love both tunes so much too. Another rain song came to mind:

    “Listen to the pouring rain
    Listen to it pour,
And with every drop of rain
You know I love you more

Let it rain all night long,
Let my love for you go strong,
    As long as we’re together
    Who cares about the weather?”

    Familiar? 🙂
