Thanks, Brian. It sure has. I feel for those in the extremes– huge amounts of snow, people trapped in their homes and flooding in many parts of the state. We are hunkered down for sure. ☔️❄️
I read that an 80 yr old man survived a week trapped in snow… Don’t remember where. Ohio? How resilient.
We’re mid-March. It should get better soon. 🤞🏻
Thanks, Kewtie. We have been getting our share of it recently. Pouring again today and the levels of snow in the higher elevations may even surprise a Norwegian! Appreciate your visit. ❄️🙂
“Palm.” Wow, that’s superb, Jane. Such an interesting mix of tree, mountains, snow, and clouds. I like the hint of buildings at the bottom, too. My other favorite is “Clearing Storm” because of those little droplets scattered across the view – they change everything. The composition in both of these photos is so good. I like the dark shadows of the trees in the first photo – eucalyptus? It’s nice to see another of your rain-spattered window photos, too, I always like those very much. What a crazy winter for California!
Hi Lynn, Great to read your response to these… a busy week! I’m glad you like the hint of buildings -tempting to darken human-made elements but I think it shows how much the foothills are a part of everyday life here. And it’s lovely that you noticed the droplets on the window…a small clue to the story of the image. Yes, Eucalyptus are everywhere here popping up on the horizon along with the palms. Thanks so much, friend! 🙂
It’s busy here, too. But at least our weather isn’t weird, it’s just been colder than usual but no drama. 😉 Looks like we’re going to see the babies tomorrow!!!
Snowy San Grabriels, that’s something we don’t see too often. And your photos, Jane, really captured their beauty. I was just down there this week, and the beauty of the snow was breathtaking, your photos capture it well. I love the colorful glow of the sun in that first photo, lends a dreamy quality.
Thanks, Jet. It was a rare occurrence and such fun to wake up to snow in the foothill elevations. Glad I caught the sunrise colors on the range. Hope you had a great time in SoCal- looking forward to reading your hummingbird post. 🙂
Thanks, Graham. One of my favorite genres. It’s fun to play around with the depth of field to achieve differing levels of mystery. So glad you like it. ☔️😊
These are so beautiful! I find myself absorbed by them because it’s so strange to see…. The first one is definitely my favorite, but the storm cleared is breathtaking too.
We’ve been hearing over here about your unusual weather recently, but no one else has made it look quite so stunningly beautiful as you do! Those snowy mountains 😮
Hi Sarah, A few months ago, I never imagined we’d be soaked for weeks. When it rains, it pours! 🙂 So glad you enjoyed my weather images- it’s very unusual to have snow on the foothills. LA was buzzing. Thanks very much! ☔️❄️
As always fine shots, Jane. It was very touching to see the adulation Joni received in Newport and seeing/hearing her sing was a joy. I was not familiar with Brandi Carlile but kudos to her and all involved for bring Joni “back to life” where she belongs.
Thanks so much, Steve. Agree about Joni, and Brandi has been instrumental in her recent resurgence of attention. Very heartwarming. Joni just won the lifetime achievement Gershwin Prize which will be aired March 31. I highly recommend Brandi- I think you will love her music. Look up “Right on Time”. Appreciate your visit here! 🙂
Absolutely stunning photos Jane! Our beautiful state is surviving and thriving. My kids just made it down the mountain in Mammoth as the next storm moves in. We just got in a few days ago. So happy to see the snow and the rain.
Thanks so much, Kathy. Glad you like them. I hope it made a good dent in the drought conditions. Fun that my granddaughters experienced snow for the first time. 😍❄️
Thanks so much, Brad. It was fun to see and exciting to have happen. We are so starved for moisture, it’s a pleasure. The higher elevations are really stressed though, with people buried in their homes. Glad you enjoyed the snowy San Gabriels!
Great captures of the recent snow event, Jane! The San Gabriels offer such a scenic backdrop when dusted with snow. I love the slightly out of focus blocks of color in ‘SoCal Soaking.’ It reminds me of a French painting of the early 20th century. Beautiful!
Thanks, Eliza. It was an exciting photography week. LA was abuzz with the beauty of the snowy mountains. Glad you like the rainy window and Pasadena. A favorite technique with which to experiment.
