  1. What a treat this post, and your photos, provided this morning. The Rose Parade is such an American Icon (at least for us on the West Coast :-)), and the dancer photo is rich with color and positivity, with perfect framing and timing on this shot. , The opening photo, though, is one I could stare at for a while ~ Sunrise and Eucalyptus; you capture my favorite part of the day. Such a lovely post, Jane – full of color and hope 🙂

    • Love reading your reaction to these, Randall. Thanks so much.
The Rose Parade is easy to attend and has a fun, small town feel. My granddaughter was mesmerized!
Glad we share a love of sunrises- I seem to be getting up earlier and earlier so it’s a bit easier to catch them! 😄

My Featured Blogger this week is photographer Jane Lurie, whose About page begins with the quote “Photography helps people to see.” Indeed, when she and her husband Bob left the eastern U.S. coast for the west, Jane brought along her ability to see what others miss. And she still delights in capturing the glorious results with her camera.

  11. Wow wow wow! The vibrancy of the sunrise in eucalyptus photo is amazing! I also love the plants and the geometric patterns of the water on the plants. You’re very talented! Thank you so much for sharing your work with us 😃🥰

  13. This post really shows off your versatility, Jane. The Rose Parade photos are excellent! Our small town has a few parades a year and I’ve made lots of photos, only a very few of which are at all decent. The heron is very nice, too. I know they’re good at posing, which helps, but you still have to get the exposure and focus just right, and you did. Of course I really like the plants – in spite of living in Pasadena, you’ve perfected raindrops on foliage. 😉
Did you happen to see the NY Times article this morning about NYC becoming LA? Check it out, it’s funny.
Here’s to color and light and cameras and blogs! 🙂

    • Hi Lynn, Always appreciative of your reaction- thank you! The Rose Parade is surprisingly easy and fun to enjoy. My granddaughter was enthralled. I managed to capitalize with mostly close-ups after the remarkable amount of rainfall. I looked for that NYT article with no luck – will search again. Did you catch the Renkl piece this week about Dorothea Lange and current day photography? Yes, here’s to lightseeking and photos! 🤗

  22. Cheers to another brilliant collection. I must say, some of the titles also made me smile – especially Plant Tango and Last Dance. I love the oranges of sunrise and sunset. Last night I saw a bright orange to the west, then turned around to see a rainbow to the east. The comb was special.

    • Thanks, Robert. Funny, there was a pretty pair of ducks in this small pond and I was standing there admiring them and suddenly realized this enormous heron was standing motionless about three feet to my left. He continued to pose while I took his portrait which was rather amazing. 🙂
