These photos are all so beautiful. Autumn is the best time to visit in NYC. The Little Island is actually really nice when you walk through it.

An awesome photo essay incorporating fall in so many different scenes. This would be perfect for a ‘I LOVE NY’ campaign. ‘Fog On The Hudson’ and ‘Mellow Yellow’ are my favorites today!

Thanks, Denise. Funny, now I have the I ❤️NY theme running in my head. 🙂 Felt lucky seeing the fog roll in – just like SF… and the Ginkgo trees were in their autumn prime. Always appreciate your thoughts.

Wow, Jane, this was a bonanza of beautiful autumn sights in NYC, thanks so much. This is one much-loved place I have never visited, so it was with great pleasure to see all the sweet spots you chose for us. Great quote, too. I liked every single photo but my two favorites were Hudson Dreaming, for the ginkgo leaves, waterfront and dreaming person; and Fog on the Hudson for the moody sky and fog enveloping the city. Cheers and thanks.

Thank you, Jet. As a native east coaster, it was great to be back after a long hiatus. So glad you enjoyed the photos and those faves in particular. I was quite surprised in your vast travels that you’ve never been, but on second thought, I can see why a nature lover might avoid this big city…until you wander Central Park.. 🙂🍁Maybe someday you will see what all the fuss is about. 😉

Lovely shots, as usual. Central Park looks like a veritable oasis, and I always wonder why the place isn’t swamped elbow to elbow with New Yorkers. I think I read somewhere that the rocks in Central Park are among the oldest in North America. If there are Ginko trees too, that suggests a scene that goes way, way back.

Hi Dave, That’s an interesting note about the rocks in Central Park! You’d think it would be overrun with people on the weekend but it’s so spread out, it was quite peaceful and beautiful with the autumn leaves. The marathon was happening so that made for some extra excitement. So glad you enjoyed these– thanks very much! :)🍁

The Updike quote is so true but I guess I’ve finally been disabused of that idea. 😉 The next best thing to going back is seeing it this way, so thank you. It looks like you had a very good trip and covered a lot of ground. I’ve read about Little Island but hadn’t seen it finished – what a strange-looking thing it is. I can’t decide what I think about it. As new-to-me as that is, “Mellow Yellow” could not be more familiar. I love it, it’s quintessential NYC. The skyline is beautifully done and that looks odd to me, too. I’ve been away far too long! In the second photo, Ginkgo leaves have fallen – another very nostalgic New York moment that goes back to the late 60s for me! And how nice that you had a sunny fall day in Central Park – they just brighten one’s mood, don’t they? You visited the memorial – I remember watching them bring those trees in from my office above the site. For long weeks, the trees sat there, waiting to be planted. Too many difficult memories associated with that place! But it’s fun to see all the roses blooming their heads off in Washington Square and that guy in overalls, just hangin’. I know you must have more, Jane, but this is a wonderful set! 😉

Hi Lynn, Great to read your reaction and it’s fun coming from your NY trained eyes. Little Island is surprising and pretty cool to experience. If you google it, there’s an aerial view that gives a good perspective. The warm weather made for great walking and people watching. The WTC memorial is a poignant stop– that lone flag caught me– and you saw it being constructed. Still many visitors paying respects. Thanks so much for your attentive response. Much appreciated. 🤗🍁

Walking and people watching is really the best part of it, I think. Though you wouldn’t want to go without the food, the photography, the arts…hmm. 😉

These are wonderful, particularly Hudson Dreaming and Mellow Yellow! The Updike line made me laugh – I’ve (secretly!) sometimes felt the same at times about places I’ve lived. London can definitely do that to you, when the stars align…
Thanks, Jane!

Thanks, Adam. Ha, that quote makes me laugh, too, since most New Yorkers exude that feeling. Agree about London. Glad you enjoyed the photos and those in particular. The leaves were so pretty! 😊🍁

Once you get over the initial fear of taking a street shot of a person its easy LOL (Patti taught me how to get over that fear). I wish I could have met up with you even if it was for a quick cocktail on your trip to The Big Apple but as you already know from my weekly emails I have a lot on my plate right now.

That would’ve been fun but I knew you were otherwise quite occupied. I’ve gotten braver but still often shoot from my hip. Nice memory of Patti. 🙂
