Such peace with your photos, Jane. Very soothing to review, and the photo of “Limpets and rocks” is my favorite ~ I could look at it forever and still find a different way to see it. And also, to me, the California Quail is one of the more beautiful birds out there, it is an excellent shot.
Hi Randall, This place…it has been preserved so beautifully and I’m glad you think I’ve conveyed the peace you feel when staying there. Pleased you enjoyed the close-up and that sweet Quail family that hung around long enough for me to get some shots. Thank you so much for your visit. 🙂
Another beautiful set … well-seen and composed! I especially love all the texture, tones and feeling of movement in Fence and Sea. Your last image, Moon Over Sea Ranch has a lovely soft and peaceful quality.
So nice to read your thoughts, Denise. The architecture and fencing blend in so well with the natural environment. As you can imagine, a photographer’s dream! Thanks so much for your response. 🙂
I love living in the mountains but visiting the coast is one of the favorite things to do. I get the best of both worlds that way 🥰 my husband is a life flight aircraft mechanic (he fixes helicopters and airplanes and keeps them flying to save lives). He works in Savannah Georgia sometimes so it’s wonderful to be so blessed
What a spot to relax in! The California coast is overwhelming in scope and you must know some of the best places. I’m not familiar with Sea Ranch so I googled it – and now I want to go there, of course. 😉
You know I love those limpets! They make (no, I guess you made!) a masterful composition on that striated rock, it’s beautiful. And who could not love the quail family? We see them around here every now and then, but not often enough. The warm and cool tones in “Dunes” are eye-catching – that image really makes me want to be there! (There’s something about the bending dune grass, footsteps in the sand, and distant shoreline that really tugs). The row of cypress trees with one person is another image that makes me want to see the place in person. In the last photo, the soft outlines and muted colors work beautifully to convey a quiet, content mood.
Hi Lynn, Gee, I could’ve sworn I answered your wonderful response. 🙂 You would go crazy with your camera here between the landscapes and the intimate nature moments. It’s so peaceful, yet dynamic. Sea Ranch is well known for its cypress rows – that’s Bob strolling in them. Check out a local Sea Ranch photographer, Paul Kozal, whom I admire – I think you would like his work. Thanks so much! 🙂
Thanks, I have his website open and I do like what he’s doing there. The cypress photos are especially nice.
Please thank Bob for being a willing subject – and you placed him perfectly. 🙂
This post was like walking and experiencing a beautiful day
– from the mystery in the fence to the serenity walk with beach sparkle to the ending colorful layers in that moon photo
Beautiful
This looks like our sort of place – noted for if we do the road trip we’re considering for norther CA next year! I love the detail of the limpets on the rock and that fabulous final moon image 🙂
You would love it, Sarah, if you like remote, unspoiled places. Kidding, I know you do. 🙂 Lots of homes to rent – currently, the Sea Ranch Lodge is under renovation. Glad you enjoyed the photos and found them enticing. Thanks so much! 🙂
What a gorgeous area, Jane! I had to look it up on Google maps! I think those CA quail made their way to Washington 🙂 This time of year must be spectacular without the summer fog. I think my daughter visits there often (from Mountain View). Have a wonderful week!
Hi Terri, This is a special part of the coast. A spectacular drive to get there. Glad you enjoyed the photos and I’m also happy that your daughter has been. Thanks so much and I hope you see some more cute quail! 🙂
Thanks, Cornelia. It’s a favorite spot to unwind. Sea Ranch is about 100 miles north of SF right near Gualala. Quite the wild ride along the coast- some spots are high like Big Sur. 🙂
Great photos, Jane. My family used to go up to Sea Ranch from the Bay Area and stay at a vacation rental on the cliffs. It’s been years now. Maybe time to return!
That’s wonderful, Angeline! What a great place for family time. They’ve held close to their original plan preserving open spaces and keeping development to a minimum. I’m glad these brought back good memories- thanks very much! 😊
Thanks, Eliza. It was a wonderful escape from the heat. Marvelous quiet with little nature moments like this sweet quail family. Glad you enjoyed this getaway. 💚☺️
Thank you, Peter. The Sea Ranch development has held close to the original concept of open natural spaces and environmentally friendly architecture. I was completely enamored with this Quail family running around together on the deck. Very cute!
Yes, I’ve visited that area. It was a family event with my son and his family visiting from Boston. While there I headed north to the beach with all the boulders.
Very beautiful
