All wonderful landscapes Jane! I especially like the layers and simplicity of ‘The Great Escape’ … the speeding boat adds a nice contrast to the otherwise peaceful scene!

Thanks very much, Denise. Really nice to read coming from your well trained eye. The Great Escape was shot at Lake Crescent in Olympic NP. The strange effect was due to summer wildfire haze, sadly, but it made for some eerily interesting images. And I was thrilled to catch the speedboat! 😊

The Humboldt Redwoods, may they live for hundreds more years, are my favorites here. I like that Gary Snyder quote very much. And Oh, Pont Reyes Walkers! there’s so much to look at there and it all hangs together beautifully. The receding hills in the final photograph are relaxing enough to stare at for some time. Happy Trails, Jane!

Haha, David. We were so lucky…there was nobody there since it was off season, and the lake was still. Perfect day. I’m glad I brought back some good memories for you…🤣 Had a good holiday, thanks. Hope you did, too.

Hope you are enjoying your summer Jane! I’m inspired to go visit the redwoods thanks to your photo in this series, but my favorite in this post has to be the alluring call of clouds and wheat. Very Wyeth feel to it.

Hi Atreyee, So nice to hear from you. Strange how blogging connections go in cycles. Happy you enjoyed this collection and that you felt inspired. The clouds over the fields in the Palouse were a magical day of photographing. Hope all is well. Thanks very much for reconnecting. 🌎💚

That’s an interesting quote from Alfred Eisenstaedt. I wish I felt like that! These are beautiful shots, as always, but I especially liked the piers, the ice plants and the Point Reyes Walkers.

Oh wow, that Maroon Bells reflection is just perfect! But I think my favourite shots are the Humboldt Redwoods and Pacific piers. There’s something about a ‘monochrome colour’ image that always appeals to me. The sunset too is a stunner!

Hi Sarah, That was a special moment at Maroon Bells…nobody around and the lake as still as could be. The blue images in the Pacific NW were due to some wildfire smoke–sad, but creatively a most unusual blue effect. Heading back to Humboldt this summer… can’t wait. Thanks so much for your encouraging words.

Wonderful choice of quotes to highlight these marvelous photos, Jane! One of them brought to mind a book I read recently which was just fascinating, The Invention of Nature, by Andrea Wulf, a story of Alexander von Humboldt‘s life! I highly recommend it!

Wow! Stunning as usual. Your landscapes are fabulous, you have an eye for beauty and capture it so well – those clouds in the first two, that sunset with the hoodoo making it just that extra bit special, the 3D effect of the trees and the piers and that soft reflected landscape in the lake. You make me want to travel again.
