  1. You do have a very personal style. Something about colours and shapes. Or is it shadows. I wish I could identify it. (And improve my own?) πŸ˜‰

  13. JANE! I’m digging your pics! Being aware of your surroundings you can find so many cool postcard moments. The bridge, the water and the mountains look so nice. Glad I could come visit and check out your gallery! You always show me something beautiful!

  15. Sigh. You know which photo I’m talking about. It’s not looking good for getting to the Joan Mitchell show before it closes. I’m glad you saw it! The first quote made me smile, it’s a nice one. ‘Golden Gate Flight’ is a beauty. I like the marsh with its wavy reflections very much. Did you see those Monarchs recently? I read about the population surge this year. The photo is fascinating, with the varied small patterns of upper wings, lower wings, and Eucalyptus leaves. The firehouse shadows are nicely seen. It’s fun to see a post without a tight theme, just the simple gifts of what you’ve seen. It rhymed! πŸ™‚ Best wishes to you, too!

    • Hi Lynn, Ha, good rhyme. πŸ™‚ I thought of you throughout the Mitchell show- I’ll send you some pics I snapped of the show. Her oversized pieces are eye-popping. Glad you enjoyed the others- small moments of happiness- you know the feeling. The butterflies were a gift- I am so glad we finally saw them. Numbers this year at this location on Pismo Beach are over 22K, up from a sad 200 last year, so that’s good news. Hope you have a wonderful holiday! πŸ™‚

      • Thanks for thinking of me – it’s being live, in front of her paintings that is exciting. The scale and energy.
SMall moments, yes, that’s what we live for now and that’s OK (for now!). I had to look Pismo Beach up – about halfway to SF from where you live now – worth the trip for that happy sight! Have a great holiday – I know you will be enjoying your family. πŸ™‚

  16. Thank you for the lovely tour of California, Jane! Those monarchs are incredible! We won’t be making our (mostly) annual road trip to So-Cal this winter due to Miss La Nina and issues with snow from Spokane to Mt Shasta, so this was a treat to remind me of California’s lovely climate. But I’m all-in here in my winter wonderland, and I enjoy snowshoeing and seeing the wild deer hanging around a few steps from my backyard! Happy holidays to you!

  17. Beautiful as always πŸ™‚ I love the red flowers and the birds in flight over the bridge. And those monarch butterflies are amazing! I thought they were dead leaves at first, with just a few butterflies, and then I realised that what I’d taken for brown leaves were the folded wings of many more butterflies!!

    • Thank you, Sarah. Happy you enjoyed this series… small moments of joy. The butterflies are astounding. So glad I finally got a chance to see it. There are several roosting sites along the coast and they have bounced back in numbers. They cluster to stay warm so their colorful wings are folded inside. There were over 22K at this site up from 200 last year! Hope you have a great holiday! πŸ˜„
