Stunning images, Jane. Each one a winner and you’ve shown us different faces of autumn. My favourite would be the first one of the moonrise. The moon is literally glowing through my laptop screen. Beautiful scene and shot 🙂
Agree that work is what you do for others. If it’s art that you love doing, you will always do it for yourself and do it for a long time to come.

Thanks so much, Mabel. I was happy to catch that moonrise- glad you like it and my tribute to Sondheim. Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season! 😄

A beautiful moon rise is hard to capture. Most of the time you need a fairly clear sky and that is all down to luck 😄 Hope you get to capture many more moon rises in the year ahead, Jane. Best wishes to you this season ❤

So varied, Jane! Love the maple leaf and those ginkgos are sublime. The runner simply intrigues. It’s like a murder mystery. Where were you?

Thanks, Jo. The fall colors have finally arrived. The runner is running by the culvert in The Arroyo which is a green space in Pasadena. Sadly, there is rarely water in it.

Love that moonrise over Pasadena. We’re having a fantastic end of November and fantastic start to December. You can’t ask for more with sunny skies and mild temps. 🙂

Thanks, David. The city looked pretty under the light of the moon. So glad you’re having fantastic days! Nice to hear positive news these days. 😀👏🏻

I had to come back to see if I missed anything. Indeed, I did … the solitary runner running next to the flood channel. A little symbolism here of what we’ve been doing for two years, and ready to start the third. The B&W seemed apropos since the passage of time has been so B&W. But, of course, it can be less serious.
The mild weather is going away. Cold is coming our way tonight. The snow part, maybe next weekend (hoping it doesn’t come).

Another wonderful collection Jane, and I love all the Sondheim quotes. He is himself a giant in the sky now 😢
That opening photo is stunning. It reminded me of when I tried to take a moonrise photo 😂
And I also especially liked Contemplation – the light and the composition.

Hi Alison, Yes, a giant in the sky, who will be great missed. 😢 Funny about the moonrise…it took me a year to get one here. Definitely a challenge! 😂
I was “following” the teen in Contemplation as we did our beach walk in Santa Barbara and he finally stopped in a great pose. 🙂Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts.

He lived a rich, long life and gave so many gifts to the world. Your tribute is a gift, too. You won’t be surprised to hear that I’m very fond of those dewy ginkgo leaves. The orange moon and hanging leaf are poignant, the burnished leaves suspended over the lantern are, too. Contemplation is a lovely black and white I had to really search for that runner! It’s a little Bosch-esque, that scene. Quite beautiful. 🙂

Hi Lynn, I’ve been immersed in the Sondheim obits and interviews so felt right to share some quotes, thank you. No surprise the dewy ginkgoes caught your eye…they are in their full glory here. And the others from my wanderings…happy you like them. Wondering if you’re referring to the artist, Bosch, or the LA crime series? Either way, I’m glad that b&w spoke to you. Your thoughts are much appreciated, as always. 🤗

You’ve presented a diverse photographic tribute to Stephen Sondheim. I was saddened to hear about his death the other day, though at 91 it’s hardly unusual. My favorite song of his has been “Send in the Clowns,” which I learned from the version Judy Collins sang on her 1975 album “Judith.”

Thanks, Steve. Couldn’t help but pay tribute to Sondheim. There’s a good taped interview with Sondheim about the writing of Send in the Clowns. It won’t surprise that he wrote it in a day. Genius.
