  1. A wonderful set of images of many tasty treats of summer. I used to work in a farm market and miss the ones I new Back East. We have a weekly one that comes to our park but it is limited to what they grow here and a lot of other stuff … like a flea market.

    • Hi Denise, One of the things CA does well are farmers’ markets. It is nice to have a dedicated on without all of the other stuff. Hope these made you hungry and thanks for all your great feedback. Means a lot. 🙂

  8. Absolutely delightful celebration of summer with your sensuous photos and entertaining subtitles, Jane. I laughed out loud at “I can see clearly now” with all the carrots. Loved looking so intimately at the cabbage and have never loved a cabbage more. I liked “Hot off the truck” with the artful nectarine-truck photo, and Light Catchers was amazing with each tomato reflecting the light. Thank you for this close and luscious embrace of the joy of fresh food.

  13. Looks like you found a terrific market. I’ve been to a few neighborhood farmers’ markets, but they’re generally small and there’s not that much variety. You’ve picked your flavors nicely.

  14. You have a way of making food look absolutely scrumptious. I love the point of view in “Hot off the Truck.” Love all the wrinkles in that cabbage, too. And the eggs, the framing was perfect, with those empty sections. You sure know how to illustrate that quote!

  30. Jane, I’m thankful I’m still quite full from lunch but even now, I’m almost drooling. Delicious photos, food, and quotes. We started going to the Gilbert farmer’s market the last several weeks and it’s large and well-attended but only about three or four produce vendors. Lots of coffee, various prepared products, bread and pastries (although they seem to think we’re in San Francisco because almost all the bread is sourdough), meat, chocolate, food trucks, etc. The distribution has a lot to do with living in a desert, I know, but I miss the markets in Cleveland (fantastic) and Illinois with their plethora of produce.

    • HI Janet, There’s always room for a few strawberries. 🙂 Happy they made you hungry. The market you mentioned sounds a bit less farmer focused and more like a food market although our farmers’ markets always have food trucks and bakeries, too, but loads of produce…well, you’re right it’s much different in the desert. Sounds like a nice scene for people to gather…now that we can! Enjoy your summer.

  32. Excellent album, definitely a feast for the eyes. and that pluot and leaf shot is kind of hypnotic for some reason. I’m also curious about those beautiful eggs, I see another Robert has asked above.

    • Hi Robert, Thanks! Nice that you focused on the pluot– I’m rather taken with that shot. Yes, the eggs are from a hen and I was told that some just happen to lay blue, some brown – I even saw a greenish one the other day. (Ha, green eggs and ham). Glad you enjoyed these. 🙂

For awhile, we thought there was going to be no June Gloom. This weekend, we had a good dose of the marine layer.
