So many wonderful images, as always! It’s hard to pick out favourites but I am drawn to the shots that are almost abstract like the tideline, the Sonoma rocks and Sea Life. Having said that, the sunset is so hard to resist and I love the composition of the lone swimmer and the toddler in the red hat 🙂

The first one reminds me how much I wanted to go to Australia where my godmother settled when I was still knee high to a grasshopper… such a perfect capture. I could almost imagine being there! Then again… the “save me” image turned upside down might be seen as a rude gesture. ☺️(I’ve been hearing that the sea stars, not fish, appear to be recovering up north) Last, but not least… that “winter sunset” is surreal and utterly amazing. Those lush colors reflected on the waves. Such an amazing catch!

Good for you, for commemorating World Oceans Day. I wish it was better known. Your images convey the power and beauty of oceans very well. I love the minimalism of Tide Line. ‘Hug the Sea’ is a great way to start off, with love and positivity. The lone swimmer on that huge beach is a wonder. It feels good to see that. And oh, the colors in the intertidal photo, with the starfish and anemones – so rich. That “parade” of rocks at Sonoma is curious – wonderful patterns! Thanks for this, Jane!

I sure enjoyed this celebration of the ocean, Jane,. You did a fantastic job of expressing the immensity and power of the sea in your photos, in every single one. The quotes were a pleasant accompaniment too. It’s hard to pick a favorite because each one has its own spectacular qualities. But the ones that grabbed me most were Crashing, Save Me, and Winter Sunset. In Crashing we get the power of the sea in totality. It’s such a powerful photo that we can almost hear the boom of the impact of the water on the boulder. The starfish gives the life and color of the sea, in all its magnificence. And what I like most about Winter Sunset is the meeting of the land, sea and sky and the message of how interconnected it all is. Thanks for this sweeping, expose of our earth’s valuable seas.

I live not so far away from Byron, about 1- 2 hours drive. It was a sought after weekend destination for us as teenagers, and we would frequently camp in the campgrounds or sleep in the back of our cars at the beaches, but I feel the town has become very touristy and commercial and doesn’t have the same appeal for me as it used to have. Mind you, the tourists and celebrities don’t seem to share my opinion. The North east coast is littered with white sand and surf beaches so other than being the most easterly point and a place celebs hang out, I don’t get why Byron is still so popular. What did you like about it, Jane?
LikeLiked by 3 people
Hi Amanda, I lived in Australia for only a few months so everything seemed magical to us. We loved all the little towns along the coast. I read an article not too long ago that Byron Bay is now a mecca for celebs, etc. Since we were just passing through it seemed like a lovely earthy beach town at the time, but you have many opportunities to explore alternatives. 🙂
