  1. Wow! Might as well appreciate nature more often. Love it!

  2. Your perspective never fails to amaze me, Jane. Amazing vivid colours and beauty of nature captured. So hard for me to pick a favourite. The five little goslings one makes me feel warm, fuzzy and cozy inside. Brilliant quote from such a brilliant artist and it ties in beautifully with your work 🙂

    • Your comment means a lot, Mabel. I loved coming upon those goslings and was pleased to capture them staying close to their Mama- (she was not to happy about me being around so I shot them quickly!) Pleased you enjoyed the theme along with the quotes. Thank you so much. 🙂

  3. Lovely captures!!
As Close to the nature and as close to the heart!!!

    • Thank you very much, Saloni. I appreciate your visit. I see you made some other comments – since you are new to my site, your comment had to be approved- that’s why you couldn’t see them when you posted. Now you won’t have to go through that, so hope you come back! 🙂

  4. Such a nice glimpse of the nature!
The flowers are so peaceful to the heart….lovely captures!!😊

  5. All the pictures are awesome, awesome😊 just like heaven

  6. It’s so beautiful

  7. As always a very nice collection, Jane. I especially enjoyed the curve of the fern frond and the framing of the spent iris bloom.

  8. Beautiful collection, I recently bought ferns for my indoors. They are beautiful.

  9. In everything…beauty is in the eye of the beholder 🦋

  10. You captured ver well.
I also loved nature very much whenever I see sky full of starry tears and the most beautifull miss world Grassy land, it brings a smile on my face unknowingly.

  11. Wow.. beautiful images. I especially liked the cactus flower trio. The colours are amazing.

  12. Beautiful series of images Jane! Enjoyed seeing them!

  13. Pictures are so beautiful !!

  14. Yeah! Where there is love💓 there is beauty!!❤️

  15. Could have looked harsh but looks very graceful and delicate the way you saw it. I like it with the white background, too. Turkeys in the Redwoods, who knew? I love that! The goslings and seal (sea lion?) are all the better for your gentle touch. Thanks for the beauty dip. 😉

  16. Such beauty, Jane. The cactus flowers are glowing in both color and black & white. The first flower is one that could jab

  17. Stunning. Love the richness of your photos and the details of the flowers is amazing. Thanks for the wonderful look at nature.

  18. wonderful colours, superb macro work!

  19. Beautiful image 😊 if you don’t mind kindly read my blog also I’m new here

  20. Such a close relation with nature🌸.

  21. Jane, you have a GREAT eye for composition and depth of field. Love this gallery. 🙂

  22. These pictures simply make me want to go to a flower show. Beautiful.

  23. Each of these is pure delight. I am sure that Redwood Strut must have been particularly fun to capture and such a perfect caption too!

    • Thanks so much, Carol. Those turkeys made us laugh…they even spread their tail feathers but their dosey-doe here was the winner. Pleased you enjoyed these nature moments. 🙂

  24. Cool shoots. Especially that Protea, which I’m not sure I’ve ever seen before. Ever wonder why more people don’t do macro?

    • Thanks, Dave. Isn’t that a cool flower? I didn’t realize how cool until I got it under my lens. Amazing. Macro is a popular genre but I think true macro which is actual size (1:1) is quite challenging and fascinating – ie the insect world. I’m quite happy doing close ups of things that generally don’t move, although I love bees. 🙂

  25. Hi Jane,
    These are beautiful!!!❣️
Love those proteas.. I have one trying right now.
Thank you for visiting me as well❣️❣️❣️

  26. I love nature….and these shots are breathtaking 😍

  27. Love your lightning of these beautiful flower pictures. They are cool to look at. There are a couple of flowers that look exotic; like they are from outer space.

  28. Stunning light, Jane. I think my favorite is cactus flower trio. I’m off to shoot a little macro on an overcast morning.

  29. wow, what great pictures jane you have chosen for us and you, i like them very much.
    many greetings robert

  30. Stunning photos Jane. For the yellow iris, did you use artificial light in addition to sunlight? It looks so bright.

    • Thanks so much, Denzil. Glad you enjoyed these. No, the yellow irises were shot with early morning natural backlighting. It was very bright, especially since I was facing the sun. 😎☀️

  31. Absolutely gorgeous shots, Jane! ❤️

  32. What a beautiful post! Each color outdid the next ! Loved them all…

  33. Exquisite photos!! And wonderfully well-chosen quotes.

  34. Wonderful photos. I’ve always loved cacti in bloom…a dream of mine is being in the desert during a big bloom season.

    • Thanks, Caroline. Glad you like them. I didn’t realize some of these only bloom for a day. Makes photographing them seem even more important! Hope you get to your desert dream someday soon. I found these in the cactus garden at our wonderful Huntington Gardens. 🙂

  35. So very well done! ❤️ ❤️

  36. 💚 them all.

  37. Lots of lovely textures in this series Jane. I love your Protea shots and the goslings in particular.

  38. I especially love the fuzzy shots (that first flower and the following one of it and the ducklings). We have a torch cactus, so I know first-hand how gorgeous those flowers are. As the one quote says, you have to look, especially in the case of the torch cactus, whose flowers only last a day (or sometimes less if it’s not) but whose beauty makes that day better. Just an exquisite group of photos.

    • Thanks very much, Janet. The “fuzzy” shots were so satisfying to capture. And while I was photographing the cactus, I was told they only last one day which made my job seem even more important! Kind of sad, really but happy to have witnessed these blooms. I’m glad you enjoyed this series…much appreciated! 🙂

  39. Such beautiful photography! Such skillful use of vignettes and the power of central placement. Never before have I seen such wonderful floral photography! Last but not the least, such cute ducks(if they are😅)!

    • Thank you very much, Garima. Pleased you enjoyed the flowers- their details are surprising. And who can’t resist baby anything.. these are geese with one big protective Mother. Appreciate your visit! 🙂

  40. A wonderful series of images, Jane – Ferns & rocks, and Iris and pond, are my favourites >>> and I’m enthusiastic about anything Van Gogh!!! 🙂

    • So glad you like those images in particular, Adrian. I really enjoyed getting lost in these shots while in Big Sur. And I couldn’t agree more about Van Gogh! 🙂 Thanks so much.

  41. I love that quote from Vincent Van Gogh. It’s so true. Unfortunately, most people walk around with closed eyes and tread down the beauty (or destroy it in another way)

  42. i could stare into each of these and get lost. Thanks! Loved this!

  43. So much beauty… this makes my sunday complete ! My compliments Jane. Greetz, Rudi

  44. Oh Jane these are absolutely gorgeous, especially the first and second, and the yellow irises. Many irises and goslings here too. I’ve recently gotten a macro lens and I’m having so much fun with it.

    • Thanks so much, Alison. Loving the flowers this spring and the goslings were such a nice surprise one day at the gardens. Congrats on your macro! It’s such fun to get lost in shooting close-ups and then the details we may otherwise miss are revealed. 🙂

  45. Beautiful high key image of a Bromelia, if that’s the right name>

  46. Wonderful shots and a great presentation. Jane at her best!!! 🙂

  47. Dude. Are those turkeys just hanging out in the wild? Ha!

  48. Stunning beauty of flowers 👌🙏🌷

  49. You cannot get any closer to nature than this. Fabulous photo essay, Jane!

  50. The five goslings are impossibly cute, and “I’m moulting” is very funny. Thanks, Jane!

    • Thanks, Adam. Felt lucky to get a couple of shots before Mother Goose came at me. Glad you liked my Wicked Witch reference, too. Those seals are something. Glad you enjoyed! 🙂

  51. Flowers to me are a personal thing like a perfume the pleasant aroma all the colors hold peace and tranquility Jane Laurie’s shots are heartfelt gravity from the Irises to all smell the scent its heavenly

  52. Absolutely stunning images, Jane. Nothing captures my attention like a beautiful flower, but you knew that already. 😉

  53. I like the way the yellow iris is lit.

  54. Absolutely gorgeous! You nailed every shot.

  55. Such gorgeous images, Jane. Those goslings are adorable. Love the quotes too. What a lovely post as always. 😍

    • Thank you so much, Sylvia. I was so taken with those goslings and managed a few shots…was a little nervous about their protective mama. Happy you enjoyed these spring favorites!💚

  56. Stunning, breathtaking… as usual, you have me groping for words. I simply adore your obvious love affair with a closer look at nature. 💖

  57. What a great series of up-close shots. I enjoyed all of them. My favorites are two turkeys in Redwood Strut, great capture and the first image of Gift from Doris and later In a Different Light, such sharp images. Thank you for sharing these images, Jane!

  58. Beautiful tribute to nature , eco 🌿

  59. Fantastic set of images!

  60. Great images, and especially the light in Redwood Strut and Iris Pond 😊

  61. What fabulous photos. Cactus Flowers and Bee is so delicate. As for I’m Molting, I think that happened to me during COVID.

  62. A terrific series! I love what you “see.” What lens are you largely using now?

  63. Nature images of flowers and such at their best and close up……

  64. Breathtakingly beautiful photos Ms. van Gogh. You really love nature!

  65. Stunning images as always
