Truly an incredible post, my friend, filled with beauty and whimsy and wisdom. I love all the quotes, so meaningfully connected to paying attention and the beauty and power of nature. I liked your play on words with the subtitles, too — chuckled out loud at Already Been Chewed, in reference to the ABC gum I remember from early days. I liked “Thistle Stop” too, instead of Whistle Stop. And your photos are masterful. The succulent, so vibrant; beach grass not vibrant but filled with beautiful patterns; and the snail in its world. My two favorites were the crab and its shadows–wow!–and the stunning sweetgrass and dew. Thanks for this gift today, much appreciated.

How fun to read your reaction, Jet and enjoyed my word play.. ABC..haha.
The crab is right up your alley- found on a beach in Australia- Eliza here researched that it’s a Sand Bubbler crab making those little balls. Fascinating. So glad you enjoyed these memorable moments of capturing nature’s amazing details. Thank you very much for your visit and thoughtful response. 🙂

Fabulous post, Jane, and I love the Susan Sontag quote. The beach grass is beautiful up close like that…the snail has an entire realm to itself there, like its own kingdom. Very cool image. 🙂 I like the leaf on leaf (on leaves) – the aspen leaf – very much. Oh, the sweetgrass is stunning. Love the chewed leaf and the tiny crab with its big shadow, too. The black and white (a Magnolia?) is very graceful and works so well with the John Burroughs quote – putting our senses in order, yes sir. Soothing and refreshing, Jane!

Attention, what a great subject, Jane, as some people are struggling with paying attention to the beauty of nature, as photographers our intensions to attentions are just like embedded within us, but we are so lucky to share an open eye to others. Just like you do with these wonderful close ups.

The dew droplets on the sweetgrass, that’s a really nice one. During the summer, we can get a lot of dew on the grass in the early morning, especially if it rained the day or night before. You have to get low and close to get the detail. 🙂
