“Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the treehouse; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape; but most of all, summer was Dill.”
― Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
These are fantastic images and I so want those peaches 🙂

Ahh.. I love your images, so colorful and the Lotus bud is a real beauty. Strawberries!!! Bowl of Summer is amazing! Here in Malta it’s too hot for the berries in the summer but in early spring and even in December you can buy sweet locally grown strawberries🍓🍓

We are, thank you. As you may know, the wildfires in California are widespread which is an added threat during the crisis, especially to those in the northern part of the state. We are not under as much of a threat in the LA area. Yet. 🤞🏻😔

Hi Jane. I have just been reading more of the news about the multiple fires, the poor air quality and the thousands of evacuations. A terrible crisis on top of the pandemic crisis. Can only hope that the threat of fires in the southern region does not worsen. Keep safe. Sending best wishes.

Thank you, Carol. Sadly, more lightening storms are in the forecast. During the last, there were 11K strikes causing over 350 wildfires. I am in mourning for some of our state parks including some redwoods. Appreciate your kind thoughts. Take care. 💙

Unbelievable the number of lightning strikes and the number of fires. The loss of lives is tragic and the injuries and lost homes and others structures are devastating, and the damage to forests, wildlife and the natural environment is very sad too. Although not forecast yet as far as I am aware, hopefully the weather conditions will change soon to slow or dampen down the fires. Take care.

Such a rich colourful harvest! Are pluots a hybrid of plums and apricots? I’ve not heard of them before.

Another photography subject that you always do so well – food, especially fruits and veggies. I love how the green beans curve this way and that. The pluots photo is akin to an old painting with those deep, colors and the graceful lines of the leaves. The lotus bud and strawberries are perfection. It looks like you’re managing to keep from being totally heat-addled! Congratulations! 😉

Thanks so much, Lynn. A combination of present day and dipping into the archives. Fun to revisit easier days of taking my time wandering the markets. Love your description of the images. Much appreciated. (and I am still heat addled..) 🙂

Beautiful shots, and a real feast of colors. This time of year, it’s a real treat to both the eyes and nose, walking through a farmers’ market, with the fruit in all kinds of rich colors and just soaking in all the great fragrances. Even the humble ol’ green bean looks just great in your shot. 🙂

The lotus steals the show, but I also really like the beans, which actually seem to be wriggling – and the pluots and leaves too. Wonderful! There’s just no comparison between summer fresh produce and that stuff we get in the winter that ripens off the vine as it travels across country. A little farther for us than you, I guess.. Love the pluots…wish I had a couple right now. 🙂

Hi Steve, So true! We’ve had more grocery store produce than we’d like during this crisis and it pales in comparison. Happy you enjoyed these- thanks so much. 🙂

We don’t have any kind of Famer’s Market this summer. Rather, the farmers are giving away their produce to churches, food pantries and the like. My sister, Ginny, her congregation has been receiving food boxes every week, loaded with carrots, potatoes, onions, apples, plums and more. Then my niece, her congregation received food products destined for restaurants, which included dairy products, yogurt, ice cream, etc. on a monthly basis. I suspect the economy may be in much worst shape than we know.
Love those pluots. They are good.

Hi David, Sad about the lack of markets but I’m happy to read that food is not going to waste as much as in some areas. That is great news. It is tragic that the supply line from farms to restaurants couldn’t be modified to reach homes and they were dumping milk and plowing over crops.
Well, glad you enjoyed these summer colors. Thank you so much. 😊
