I Left My Heart in San Francisco

I Left My Heart In San Francisco

The loveliness of Paris seems somehow sadly gray
The glory that was Rome is of another day
I’ve been terribly alone and forgotten in Manhattan
I’m going home to my city by the Bay

I left my heart in San Francisco
High on a hill, it calls to me
To be where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars
The morning fog may chill the air, I don’t care

My love waits there in San Francisco
Above the blue and windy sea
When I come home to you, San Francisco
Your golden sun will shine for me

  1. Your photos spark other creative ideas. Thank you 🌻

  2. Stunning captures of SF, as always! Breathtaking sunset.

  3. What a beautiful love letter to San Francisco, Jane. The poem and your stunning photos goes right to my πŸ’™

  4. Lovely images. I need to here.

  5. Yeah… I left a piece of mine there, too! It’s still there. Right where I left it! πŸ˜‰

  6. Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet and commented:
Come see the beauty of San Francisco in Jane’s photos!

  7. Wonderful pictures of San Francisco city and were perfect to catch your eyes after reading the poem.

  8. Lovely images. Always good to see the world through the eyes of others. Especially now that we can’t travel. (Suzanne)

  9. Absolutely beautiful post, Jane, in terms of feelings, words and images: a real pleasure and spirit-lifter. Adrian πŸ™‚

  10. Good morning Jane Lurie? I hope you are doing great amid the battle with the ugly pandemic.

  11. I have left my heart so many times in San Francisco and your gorgeous images Jane are just speaking to my heart

  12. It was nice to post those lyrics…and I can see Orion over on the left side of the first photo – it’s beautiful (I mean it all is). I’ve always loved Venus with a crescent moon – I used to see that over the Hudson sometimes. You have a front-row seat to beautiful views and luscious colors, Jane. πŸ™‚

  13. Beautiful images, Jane, and they each feel peaceful.

  14. Good for you for crediting the songwriters. So many Internet sites credit only the singers of songs.

  15. Powerful images of your favourite city! Your poem expresses your nostalgic sentiments very well.

  16. Absolutely gorgeous, Jane.

Hope you’re doing well, staying well. Today is the last day of mandatory stay-at-home, with a slow restart beginning tomorrow despite a strong uptick in new cases and loss of life over the past few days. Also, too many question marks on who’s allowed to reopen. Restaurants, bars remain closed until May 31.

    • Thank you, David. Please be safe regardless of the openings– I am sure you will. It’s really hard to imagine reentering into the world. It definitely won’t be in the same way. It’s all a very sad and stressful situation. Take care, friend.

  17. Beautiful shots, Jane. It always amazes me when we can see the ‘dark side’ of the moon in reflected earth glow.
    Hope you are doing well.

  18. Yes, such a truly special place

  19. One of my most favorite places, San Francisco, California

  20. So lovely! just what was needed, Jane, Thanks

  21. Mine in the suburb of Atlanta, Villa Ricca to be exact. πŸ’“πŸ’“

  22. You certainly do San Francisco justice!❀️

  23. Beautiful views. What a fine looking city πŸ™‚
