Simply gorgeous and the colors in the first one are a show-stopper. First you give us that brilliant, vibrant gush of color and then you turn it off in the next one. Bet you’ll never guess which I prefer? 😉

Hi Gunta, Thanks! I thought the contrast of the two was interesting. I’m going to guess you’re a color lover given your nature posts. (and your description of the first!) 🙂

Fabulous! Somehow we missed seeing it by night like that – though I do remember (and loved photographing) waiting for the first ferry across from Sausolito when it wasn’t really light…

I usually like monochrome for the more pronounced details, but in night photography I would say the opposite because your color photographs are so clear and pure that it looks almost 3D or that we are “in” the landscape
Have a nice day (here in Paris it’s rainy)

Hi Anon, I am fascinated by the colorfully lit windows and layers in the nightscapes of the city. I agree, color emphasizes those details while black and white shows the gradations of light. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts– wish I was photographing Paris at night! Thank you so much.

Regarding the first photograph, did you also zoom in on the moon and clouds as a separate composition?

Hi Steve, No, that would require PS, which I don’t use much. I shot this with bracketed exposures and merged them in LR. Thanks for asking.

Your nights are clad in gentle electric colors, Jane. In love with the moon and its bright side kissing the dark one, as magical as a fairy tale (and of course the technical magic to represent such a scene with a difficult dynamic range)
