Beautiful city you have there, Jane. I love the first moon shot.
Thanks so much, Lisa. The moon was special this past month. Glad you enjoyed them.
Simply gorgeous and the colors in the first one are a show-stopper. First you give us that brilliant, vibrant gush of color and then you turn it off in the next one. Bet you’ll never guess which I prefer? π
Hi Gunta, Thanks! I thought the contrast of the two was interesting. I’m going to guess you’re a color lover given your nature posts. (and your description of the first!) π
How very clever of you! π
Viewing the first shot, one is guaranteed “sweet dreams” ~ the moonlight shimmering off the clouds with the city below, priceless.
Thank you so much, Randall. I really appreciate your thoughts on my posts. Hope all is well with you. π
Absolutely STUNNING shots Jane….so vibrant n happy!!!
Hi April, The nighttime city scenes are a favorite subject. So glad you enjoyed- thank you! π
Wow, Jane, these are beautiful – what amazing colors. Something tells me you had fun with these…. π
Hi Lynn, Thanks! You do know me– I sure did. I am fascinated by the colors and details of the night windows. Happy you like this set- much appreciated. π
The windows’ colors are surprising – it’s good that they have a fan out there, admiring and interpreting them. π
Thanks again, Lynn. π
Fabulous! Somehow we missed seeing it by night like that – though I do remember (and loved photographing) waiting for the first ferry across from Sausolito when it wasn’t really light…
Thanks, Andy! Glad you enjoyed these. Bet that ferry ride was lovely. Appreciate your visit here. π
Absolutely gorgeous shots, Jane. You could’ve posted only one image, I would’ve been happy. π
Thank you, David. Iβm into city night shots lately. Glad you enjoyed. I want you to be happy! π€
I usually like monochrome for the more pronounced details, but in night photography I would say the opposite because your color photographs are so clear and pure that it looks almost 3D or that we are “in” the landscape
Have a nice day (here in Paris it’s rainy)
Hi Anon, I am fascinated by the colorfully lit windows and layers in the nightscapes of the city. I agree, color emphasizes those details while black and white shows the gradations of light. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts– wish I was photographing Paris at night! Thank you so much.
Gorgeous as always Jane!
Thanks, Nicole. Iβve been into night shots lately- I find the windows and lights mesmerizing. Hope you are doing well!
Oh Jane these are beautiful!
Alison
Thanks so much, Alison. A thrill to photograph. π
Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet.

Iβm so glad you like them, Chuck. Thanks very much. Happy Sunday to you, too. π
Goodnight indeed, such beautiful shots of the CIty, Jane!
Thanks so much, Terri. Itβs exciting to see what is revealed at night in the city. Glad you enjoyed them. ππ
A city at night is like a new place – and youβve captured some dreamlike SF magic here. Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Adam. I am fascinated by the windows at night. So many stories to be told. Happy you enjoyed! π
Jane, fabulous night time images and the first one with the moon is just spectacular!
Hi Ellen, I’m so glad you enjoyed these. The city was sparkling as the moon set. Thank you very much.
Regarding the first photograph, did you also zoom in on the moon and clouds as a separate composition?
Hi Steve, No, that would require PS, which I don’t use much. I shot this with bracketed exposures and merged them in LR. Thanks for asking.
Absolutely beautiful images, Jane – especially like Sweet Dreams and Evening Hues. A π
Thanks so much, Adrian. The colors and light in the buildings at night is mesmerizing to me. Pleased you enjoyed them! π
Love your rendered colors at night over the city. The shape of the moon and the its light are fantastic!
Thanks very much, YC. I love this time of year when the fog lifts and the nights are clear. This week’s moon was a delight- happy you enjoyed these. π
Lovely set of pictures, Jane. My favorite? The first and the last one!
Thanks so much, Arv! Much appreciated. π
You are welcome, Lurie
Amazing shots π
Thank you, Flavia. SF sparkles at night. Glad you enjoyed them.
SFO is ways amazing, at night, during the day, under the rain, etc. βΊοΈ and you did some great shots, as usual I would add!
It is a magical city, Flavia. The changing light is always an inspiration. Thanks, again. π
To you, for sharingβΊοΈπ
Your nights are clad in gentle electric colors, Jane. In love with the moon and its bright side kissing the dark one, as magical as a fairy tale (and of course the technical magic to represent such a scene with a difficult dynamic range)
Thank you very much, Francis, for your wonderful response. π The city at night holds such beauty and mystery.
Beautiful sweet dreams, Jane, once the first image came up, I let out a big AW
That makes me happy, Cornelia. So glad you enjoyed them– thanks very much. ππ
Wow, great shots, Jane. I love it when you can see the dark side of the moon. So cool.
Me, too! Now I want to put on some Pink Floyd. π Pleased you enjoyed these. Thanks very much, Eliza.
These are amazing! Iβll be back in SF Pct 10-16 and then again Oct 23-Nov 20. Need to catch up !

Love love love Sweet Dreams! Good Night Moon…
Thanks, Linda. Such a beautiful moment with the crescent moon. πGoodnight bridge above the bay…
All beauties, Jane. I may have to start doing some night photography but I live in such a small town. π
Thanks so much, Steve. I bet there are some wonderful small town night shots. Itβs amazing what is revealed. Glad you enjoyed! ππ
The setting moon is evocative. But the stacked planes of Evening Hues are what really got me.
Thanks very much, Michael. I really appreciate your thoughts- I am mesmerized by the layers of the city at night.
Me too. And you showed them really well.
That means a lot. Thanks again.
Wonderful! Terrific! I really like night photos, and these are very nice. Especially the one with the moon. Will try some on our upcoming trip.
Thank you, Jack. Iβm always surprised at the details that are revealed in night shots. Such fun to create. Looking forward to you images! π
Fantastic shots, Jane. Love the quote too. Reminds me of the words of the song by Don McLean βStarry, starry night, paint your palette blue and gold.β
Thank you, Sylvia. Night photography is a thrill. Starry night is a perfect pairing- glad youβre inspired. π
Incredibly beautiful photography, Jane! Love! β€οΈπ
