Hi Dave, I’m so happy for you. Charleston is a well-preserved, historic small city. You will love walking the cobblestone streets with your camera, Enjoy! 🤗
Thank you, David. Fascinating and Charleston is full of fine examples. A famous iron craftsman, Phillip Simmons who died at 97, created many of the beautiful iron gates and ornaments around the city.
Thanks, Steve. This one called out for monochrome- glad you like it. I hear from friends that despite flooding and downed trees, they are doing fine. The Bahamas is horrifying.
Nice version of the window, the iron work is so unique I recognized it immediately.
As for the storm, it’s fading as I type this. Winds are still high, water is up, but hurricanes are the price we pay to live here. It’s a photographer’s heaven.
So glad you fared well, Ted, and are safe. Charleston certainly is a photographer’s dream which I loved for fifteen years. Now it’s earthquake and fire worries in a very different kind of photography heaven. 😉
I look forward to visiting Charleston. As you stated, I hope it won’t be too negatively affected by the hurricane. Have been to Savannah and enjoyed its rich architecture.
Thank you, Michael. Charleston is filled with architectural gems. Hopefully the expected rain and high tides today won’t be too devastating to the Charleston area. The Bahamas is heartbreaking.
Beautiful. You have such a wonderful way of capturing atmosphere. I want to sit down and gaze.

Nice. Wrought iron patterns can become very elaborate. The craftsmanship that goes into it is very impressive.

Well seen and excellent in monochrome, Jane. Hopefully Dorian doesn’t create as much damage for Charleston as the poor Bahamas received.

It seems the Outer Banks got hit pretty hard today. Those barrier islands are so vulnerable.

I saw that. Yikes. Yes, I lived on Kiawah Island for many years and it is worrisome.

Very nice picture, and I hope Dorian is not as hard on the southeastern US as it was on the Bahamas.

Thanks, Sean. Loads of flooding but no where near as devastating as the Bahamas which is tragic.

Great capture, especially with the shadowing. Dorian is a whooper of a storm. I feel for the folks who lost everything in the Bahamas, and now the US.
