“Summer was our best season: it was sleeping on the back screened porch in cots, or trying to sleep in the treehouse; summer was everything good to eat; it was a thousand colors in a parched landscape; but most of all, summer was Dill.”
~ Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
“Smell the sea, and feel the sky. Let your soul and spirit fly.”
~ Van Morrison
“It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside.”
~Maud Hart Lovelace
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.”
~John Lubbock
Gorgeous images, Jane. We drove the coast road in December and your post brought back good memories.

I’m going to be spending about four days near Gulula in July. I’m hoping the weather is good for some night shooting. It’s something I don’t do very often. Lots of additional long exposure landscape and tight macro shots. It should be fun.

What are the flowers in “Classic California” and “Anticipation”?

Anticipation is Agapanthus or “Lily of the Nile”, native to So. Africa. Not sure about classic California without a closer look.

I only recognize them because they are all over the city of Bandon. It’s like the official city flower and they do spread, but not obnoxiously so.

Hi Steve, As Gunta commented, Anticipation is an unopened Agapanthus and the flowers in Classic are possibly thistles or clovers (?) not sure but maybe someone here can identify them. Glad you enjoyed the photos.
