On the 7th anniversary of Jane’s Lens, I am grateful to my family, friends and the blogging community for your continuing support of my work. Your response to my images is encouraging and I appreciate the inspiration from other photographers around the world.
A special thanks to my husband, Bob, whose enthusiasm and keen eye has fortified me. We sure have fun together.
I hope you enjoy my collection of this year’s favorites.
Wishing you all a terrific 2019 filled with happiness, inspiration, kindness and hope.

A 4AM alarm was fine with me in order to see the phenomenon of the Super Blue Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse. It was exciting to photograph the changing color and light of the night sky with the grand finale of the eclipsed moon setting behind the Golden Gate.

A welcome rain hit San Francisco in February and I thank my husband for urging me to get out of the car and walk to the water by the bridge. Luckily, I had my umbrella balanced on my head and camera in hand when this man suddenly appeared and ducked into the cafe. It was the only shot I made. Phew.

One of our favorite day trips is to Point Reyes National Seashore. The autumn colors in the succulents lining the shore were dazzling. Fortuitously, a women in her VW Bug rolled up and capped the day with a quintessentially California moment. Within minutes, the fog rolled in and obscured the entire scene.

Hudson River Park is a favorite spot to get some exercise and photos when we’re in NYC. I’m a fan of backlit subjects and silhouettes and this scene in the midst of the busy city was a perfect greeting.

This image, for me, captures the feel of San Francisco at night. I am fascinated by the variety of buildings – classic Victorian to modern apartments – and the geometry of the lighted windows nestled in the steep hillsides of the city.

Wow! You always put so much heart and soul into your images, captions and comments Jane! Since I like humour – The shot of Sitting with Hockney is fantastic! – as well as The Crew! For colour burst, my vote goes to On the Vine. California Living is a wonderful nostalgic shot – the hippy beeetle amidst all the flowers. I love The Point Reyes monochrome – so rich! And of course – the dearest to you is Imogen! (Did I ask you before if she was named after Imogen Cunningham?)

My favorite part might be, “We sure have fun together.” 🙂 That being said, what a perfect quote, and I like your brief explanations – they really add to the whole.
The old boat, Point Reyes, is a beautifully finished piece of work, and I love the rainy window view below that one for its liveliness. The B&W flower does convey the feeling you describe, and having felt that more than once, I appreciate that image so much. Then there’s Imogen – YES! I would follow her anywhere, too.
Congratulations on 7 years! 2018 was filled with good times and great images, that’s clear. Warm wishes for another year of spreading easy breath and good cheer, Jane.

Jane, a splendid grouping of eclectic images. I’m still most fond of The Hard Rain. It really speaks to the moment. Second would be Hudson Afternoon. The simplicity of this silhouetted photograph with its foreground of the person lying on the park benches, the mid-ground of the city and the beauty of the God’s light bursting out of those dramatic clouds is my second choice. However, it does rival The Hard Rain.
Happy New Year! May 2019 be another successful year for you.

You’re certainly an inspiration. So wonderful to revisit some of my favorites in this collection as well as those I hadn’t seen previously. To me, Night Life captures the quintessential feel of San Francisco with all the buildings jostling for a better view. The shot of Imogen is beyond precious!
Wishing you and Bob another amazing year and looking forward to more of your beautiful images.

So many truly wonderful shots, but I keep coming back to the attendant at the Hockney exhibition. The composition is fantastic.
