You bring to life one of my favorite places on Earth. Big Sur came up in conversation this past weekend when someone asked me where I would like to live, and while Seattle/HK remained top on my list, I said Big Sur. While only visiting there once, what you capture in your images is the reason why. Simply stunning vistas and views. Your ‘Blue Hour’ and “Elements’ shots summarize almost the exact experience I had there…stayed at the Ranch Inn, which was incredible as well.

Hi Atreyee, Happy these brought you down memory lane. Thank you! It was so great to be back there.
I am in Banff and sad because the wildfires are here, too, and the place is in a haze. 😟 Hoping for some improvement before the week’s end. Hope all is well with you.

I can see that final quote resonating with you and your approach to photography, and life. This lovely set shows depth of understanding….the evening images, especially the first and “Blue Hour” are amazing for the smooth color transitions. I really like having the last shot here too, to remind me of the whole picture of that area. Nice to hear (above) that the road’s open all the way (I guess?) again. Even nicer to know you stayed put to avoid crowds and be in the place you’ve come to love, where your tree is. 🙂

Have to agree that Big Sir is something truly special. A very favorite section of our marvelous coast. And you did a superb job of catching its many moods and enchantment. What a pleasure to revisit some of these spots. That slide was something pretty awful. Hate to think of what the locals had to go through with being cut off like that.

I saw on the news that Highway 1 in the vicinity of Big Sur has finally reopened a year and a half after the landslide. Did you take advantage of that reopening to get these pictures?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hi Steve, Yes, that section of Hwy 1 finally reopened which is south of where we stayed in Big Sur, so didn’t go down there this time. I think the summer crowds swelled when people heard it was reopened so we stayed put where we were staying since we’ve been there many times. One of our favorite places on the coast. 🙂
