  1. …beautiful pictures &blog!…maybe you like mine too… here or on instagram/siscloudy 🙂

  2. Reblogged this on The Reluctant Poet and commented:
Don’t Miss Jane’s Photos of California’s Big Sur coast!

  3. Your photos of the California coast can sure make a California boy living in Texas homesick!! LOL!! Such beautiful shots!!!
    xoxo

  4. You bring to life one of my favorite places on Earth. Big Sur came up in conversation this past weekend when someone asked me where I would like to live, and while Seattle/HK remained top on my list, I said Big Sur. While only visiting there once, what you capture in your images is the reason why. Simply stunning vistas and views. Your ‘Blue Hour’ and “Elements’ shots summarize almost the exact experience I had there…stayed at the Ranch Inn, which was incredible as well.

  5. Wonderful! I especially love the tree silhouettes!

  6. I love the drama of these photos – the sea, the fog and jagged cliffs are spectacular.

  7. I have always wanted to visit Big Sur and your post whetted my appetite and convinced me to cross it off my bucket list as soon as possible, Jane. Your pictures left me speechless!

  8. Love the foggy coast of Big Sur. Your “Cliffs and Fog” brought back wonderful memories. Wishing you a wonderful week safe from the California fires.

    • Hi Atreyee, Happy these brought you down memory lane. Thank you! It was so great to be back there.
I am in Banff and sad because the wildfires are here, too, and the place is in a haze. 😟 Hoping for some improvement before the week’s end. Hope all is well with you.

  9. I can see that final quote resonating with you and your approach to photography, and life. This lovely set shows depth of understanding….the evening images, especially the first and “Blue Hour” are amazing for the smooth color transitions. I really like having the last shot here too, to remind me of the whole picture of that area. Nice to hear (above) that the road’s open all the way (I guess?) again. Even nicer to know you stayed put to avoid crowds and be in the place you’ve come to love, where your tree is. 🙂

  10. I admire the sense of respect and admiration for the Nature that permeates all your landscapes series.

  11. Gorgeous! I feel like diving into the water 🙂 You are always making such great use of the light Jane.

  12. …and the magic of colours.
    Excellent set of photos.

  13. Wow Jane! These photos are incredible. I have wanted to visit Big Sur for a very long time. What is the best time of year to go? Not sure when we will get there but hoping someday.

  14. Beautiful! Glad the PCH re-opened.

  15. Magical indeed! Wonderful, Jane!

  16. Have to agree that Big Sir is something truly special. A very favorite section of our marvelous coast. And you did a superb job of catching its many moods and enchantment. What a pleasure to revisit some of these spots. That slide was something pretty awful. Hate to think of what the locals had to go through with being cut off like that.

  17. Glorious images. One of the memorable features of our fly-drive holiday in California about 25 years ago was the drive down the Pacific Coast from San Francisco to LA

  18. Love that you captured the light at different times, Jane. I find Blue Hour and Last Light most intriguing.

  19. Beautiful photos, Jane. You are mastering light.
    Ω

  20. Light is everything …..can you ever imagine a world without it? These are stunning photos ! See you soon xo

  21. Very nice, Fog Blanket is my favorite though.

  22. Amazing shots of the Big Sur all round, Jane. You make the place look so expansive, larger than life. So many different conditions and time of day. You certainly have been out and about 😊

  23. You have captured subdued light in all its beauty. Especially in the mist enshrouded images.

  24. Photographing Big Sur is always just a delight, as your images are. The light there is some how very different and special , one like me never gets tried of it thank you sharing your beautiful vision.

  25. Lovely post. Good night Big Sur and Blue Moon Hour look like Maxfield Parrish illustrations.

  26. All are superb! Something about the composition of “Last Light” wins for me. Perhaps the balance.

  27. And the winner is…all of them. However, I do have a favorite…Cliffs & Fog. The B & W is as captivating as the image.

  28. Especially like the pictures taken in the evening light.

  29. Beautiful Jane, u made the most of your visit. Love the fog

  30. The magic of light has given us these wonderful images of Big Sur. Thank you Jane!

  31. I’m with Jude, 100% 🙂 🙂

  32. Good Night Bug Sur is so wonderful👍

  33. So gorgeous and ethereal as your photos capture the mist and fog.

  34. Jane, beautiful images. “Good Night, Big Sur” tops my list. I believe a lot has to do with you capturing the beauty and with the association to the book, “Goodnight Moon”. Well done.

  35. Wonderful location, wonderful fog, wonderful pictures!

  36. Hi jane, very interesting pictures my favorites are the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th.
    Greetings Robert

  37. This minimalistic post (regarding words that is) is certainly rich in embracing the light in the images. The lighter side of Jane…

  38. These image are gorgeous Jane 🙂 Seems like we are always chasing the light.

  39. Totally beautiful photography as always! ❤️

  40. “Photography is a love affair with life.”
Oh yes! And your photography is simply stunning.

  41. I saw on the news that Highway 1 in the vicinity of Big Sur has finally reopened a year and a half after the landslide. Did you take advantage of that reopening to get these pictures?

    • Hi Steve, Yes, that section of Hwy 1 finally reopened which is south of where we stayed in Big Sur, so didn’t go down there this time. I think the summer crowds swelled when people heard it was reopened so we stayed put where we were staying since we’ve been there many times. One of our favorite places on the coast. 🙂

Love to hear what you think...
