“Yosemite Valley, to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.”
~ Ansel Adams
“Down through the middle of the Valley flows the crystal Merced, River of Mercy, peacefully quiet, reflecting lilies and trees and the onlooking rocks; things frail and fleeting and types of endurance meeting here and blending in countless forms, as if into this one mountain mansion Nature had gathered her choicest treasures, to draw her lovers into close and confiding communion with her.”
~John Muir
Beautiful shots. Thank you.
I’m so glad you enjoyed them, D&E. Thanks very much.
wow – the picture are simply taking me into a new journey…Being in Yosemite is a sincere place for good meditation!
Thank you, Mihran. It is indeed a place for getting lost in nature, meditation and appreciation of the natural world. So glad you enjoyed these.
such beautiful pictures. Been to Yosemite and just came back form the Yellowstone National parks…They are the absolute gems of the mother nature with awe-inspiring beauty.
Hi Megha, I love Yellowstone! Hope you had a wonderful time. So glad you enjoyed my latest of Yosemite. Agree…gems of nature. Thanks so much for your visit here. 🙂

Happy you enjoyed these, Andrew. Thank you! Hope you get there someday soon. 😊
Superb photos Jane. A magnificent place I would love to explore.
Thank you, Simon. I hope you visit someday- it’s magical.
Ha! Just read a book titled Yosemite Falls and the half dome was mentioned in it. Great to have a vision to go along with one in my head. Yours is worse. Imagine climbing it? Love the shoe shot at the end.
Hi Lisa, Serendipity! I could never imagine climbing it! I am fascinated by the climbers and it is nerve-racking seeing them on the rock faces. Glad you enjoyed the series– thank you! How was the book?
It looks rather terrifying. The book was a bit heavy on rock climbing, which is the point, but the characters were good.
Amazing landscapes.
Thanks, Rabirius. One of my favorite parks.
What a wonderful tribute to Yosemite and your “rock”! I haven’t been there, but I imagine it must be hard to be selective about what you shoot, since it looks so breathtaking in every direction. You’ve done it, though! Wonderful images!
Thanks so much, Patti. Happy you like them– you’re right it is an overwhelming visual feast!
Beautiful ❤️
Thanks so much, Muhammad. Happy you enjoyed them. 😊
I smiled at “Yosemite Love” Jane, because I have an almost identical picture taken at a park in British Columbia, but the location was on the water – even the shoes are almost the same, so funny! Seriously though, you’re brave to take on a subject so many have done so well. The “Trees and Half Dome” B&W is superb! Those toned rocks, and the tree silhouettes, how the complement the scene…really, really nice. “My Rock” is perfection. And I like the one under it for the way those giant rocks in the foreground bring me in. It’s fun seeing the falls blowing in the wind. “Olmsted Point Trees” is beautiful, the repeating patterns of the rocks and trees are handled with sure eye! This park is one of the many, many iconic Western locations I have not yet seen. I’m thinking of trying to go off season, but sometime when travel wouldn’t be problematic because of snow. Meanwhile, I’m happy to have an inspiration like this to keep me dreaming. Have a good weekend, Jane!
Hi Lynn, I am smiling ear to ear reading this– thank you so much! Not surprised you have a similar shot– we seem to share like sensibilities. It was a magical few days in the park– a mix of iconic scenes and taking a closer look. It’s fairly overwhelming to wrap a creative mind around it all. Pleased you enjoyed these and I do hope you get there soon– we lucked out avoiding the summer crowds and the waterfalls were still flowing. You will be blown away! Enjoy your weekend, too. 🙂
So much beauty. One could spend a lifetime there, and still on see a small percentage of everything worth seeing in Yosemite. Thank you for sharing those magical photos.
Thank you, Maria. So true…it’s overwhelming to take it in visually, much less photograph it. Happy you like these shots!
You have so wonderfully captured the beauty of Yosemite, Jane.
Truly magnificent images.
Thanks very much, Lisa. So glad you like this series. Have you been?
Happy anniversary to you both and thanks for the memories of waking up when travelling in the Green Tortoise bus and looking out at that magnificent mountain
Thank you, Pauline. You know the feeling! It really is astounding.

Thank you, Detlef. Glad these brought back good memories- it’s great that you’ve been there. Appreciate your enthusiastic response. 🙂
Wow, beautiful images Jane. I’m a climber and I hope to one day visit Yosemite with my climbing gear and my camera. “Trees and Half Dome” is a great image! There is something about mountains in monochrome. Very nice!
Thanks so much, Göran. We watched climbers ascending El Cap… thrilling, as long as I’m on the ground. 🙂 Glad you like the monochromes…Ansel is always in the back of my mind there. Hopefully you’ll do Half Dome and El Cap someday soon. Appreciate your visit here.
Wow. I love the final shot. I could feel my walking boots on my feet!
Thank you, Ali. Glad it took you right there! 🙂
A treasure trove of images, Jane. About 25 years ago we did a two week fly-drive around California. We drove over into Yosemite from Bishop and spent a couple of nights in a Marriott Hotel (Tenaya Lodge, I think). I had always wanted to see Half Dome and El Cap and the Falls. Partly through the work of Ansel Adams, but also because of reading so much about El Cap (speaking as a mountaineer). Unforgettable – the only problem was there wasn’t enough time. It was the story of the holiday – we saw a lot of places but nothing in any detail. But images like your images are wonderful visual memories. You’ve made my day, thank you.
Hi Andy, Makes me happy that these brought back good memories. Your trip sounds great — hard to cover all that ground. Assume you didn’t have time for any climbing– I am transfixed by the climbers making their way up El Cap and Half Dome. I can’t imagine it! Thank you for making my day with your wonderful comment.
Absolutely incredible photos Jane, they take me back there once more
I’m so glad, Eddie. Thank you very much.

Thank you, Paula. Maybe you’ll get to it someday. It’s a powerful experience.
Lovely, beautiful, gorgeous! You certainly do Yosemite proud. I think it’s one of the first National Parks I ever went to back around ’69. I fell in love with nature and the outdoors right then and there. Thanks for the lovely images.

That’s so nice to read, Bruce. Thanks very much.
Your ending quotation reminded me of our 2016 visit to John Muir’s house in Martinez.
That must have been fascinating, Steve. Thanks for the tip!
If you haven’t been there you probably haven’t been to the Martinez Regional Shoreline, either. I ended up doing 5 posts about it:

Hi Steve, I remember them — commented on the Gumplant post way back when. Just enjoyed the Pickleweed post — must have missed that one. Thanks!
Magnificent nature – and wonderful shots. I would love to hike there.
Hi Ann-Christine, Glad you enjoyed, thank you. You would definitely love all the hiking. Some of it is way to daring and high for us. 😬I do love to watch the rock climbers.
Rock climbing would never appeal to me – but I enjoy watching them of course…
