Let’s go dancin’ in the light

We know where the music’s playin’

Let’s go out and feel the night.”

  1. In “lunar eclipse” the moon looks like dis-incorporating into lunar dust while traveling the night. Ethereal beauty.

  2. At the blue hour I dance in the moonlight,
    glitter with the stars.
The hours between moon and sun,
    take me to another world
    where the fantasy still lives
until the moon manages to the other side
    and the sun rises again.
Go with the day until the next moon.

Nice shots, Jane! Nice shots, Jane! Love the “Super Blue Blood Moonset” and “Awaiting The Moon”.

Have a fine day and a beautiful evening / night πŸ™‚ with warm regards, Heidi

  3. Just another wonderful set of very imaginative photos.

  4. These photographs are so amazing!! ❀️️❀️️❀️️❀️️❀️️

  5. A lovely collection of moon images, Jane!

  6. Wow oh Wow what stunning photography. Regards Brian

  7. Stunning pictures. An inspiration for other photographers!

  8. You got some fantastic shots of super blood blue moon from SF. It was so cold in East Coast so I gave up! — Stephen

  9. Beautiful night and moon captures Jane! I’m so glad to see you got out there! What a great location for the moon too. I scouted for a location several days preceding and the eclipse/blood moon ended up under clouds and a bust. Then, after all that I ended up with the best shot of the super moon from the end of my driveway.

    • HI Denise, Sorry you had cloud cover but glad that you got your shot. (you could have stayed in your PJs! πŸ™‚ )
I had it fairly easy taking them from my window… 😁It was really a thrill especially when I managed to get a few clear ones– we were lucky that the forecasted fog stayed away. Thanks so much and I’m happy you enjoyed the images.

  10. You’ve captured a once in a life time event magnificently in all its phases.

  11. Hi. I just wanted to let you know that I nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award. Your beautiful art touches me deeply.

  12. Beautiful series. When the eclipse reached totality, the moon was hanging pretty low in the sky from my vantage point. It was also the darkest eclipse I’d seen. Then, it disappeared behind the mountains.

  13. Oh, Jane. This is spectacular. Gorgeous shots! What lens were you using? My shots were not nearly as detailed with the 55 to 200 mm.

  14. did you pull an all-nighter???
    nightlife is my fav…
there is something about the clarity of the windows- and then the shapes and the amount of lights on.
kept going back to it – but all the photos are your signature (beautiful) style…
and a bit of lunar history you grabbed here – πŸ™‚

  15. Nice sequence Jane, Unfortunately in our part of the world, no eclipse to see and a dark winters night with lost of cloud mainly obscuring the moon

  16. Really gorgeous photographs of the moon, Jane, but my favorites? The first two. Something about rooftops at night (or at sunrise) that I just love and these are so, so beautiful.
    Have a wonderful week ahead!

  17. Wow, incredible to see these. So wish I had caught a glimpse of the super blue blood moon.

  18. I do not regret following your blog. Great pictures of that moon! Keep it up

  19. OMG…Jane just AMAZING shots….i am blown away….WOW!!! great colors & details….really brilliant!!!

  20. Wow, Jane. These photos are gorgeous! I’m assuming you used a tripod for these? They really are amazing. πŸ™‚

  21. Great sequence! Wonderful lead in. Fabulous foreground with the bridge. Nice finish with the next day image. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜Ž

  22. Wonderful pictures, Jane, which I will be sharing with my son as we missed it.

  23. Stunning! Your captures are always very inspiring!!

  24. Wow, these are terrific shots, Jane. Good for you for crawling out of bed so early – well worth it!

  25. absolutely memorizing! Yous should publish your works!

  26. San Francisco – One of the most beautiful places . Your photos take me back and to my grandparents in San Francisco…

  27. Great job Jane – good for you for getting up for the show! My fav is Goodnight Moon – both the capture And the title :-). I liked that you included the pre-moon shots too, also terrific.

  28. Jane, I could have stopped at your first photoβ€”it is absolutely gorgeousβ€”and I’m glad that I continued on to your Blue Hour Blue Moon photos. Your time was well spent.

    Outstanding work this week,
    Ξ©

  29. Beautiful – it was cloudy here so we didn’t get to see it so loving these photos

  30. Jane! Great work – you planned and were set up, I assume, and then the weather cooperated, and you were inspired. It must have been terrific to watch the progression, the changing colors… The “Goodnight Moon” photo is one you must print – can I say it’s an instant classic, or does that sound too trendy? I love the soft tones in the final image, the Super Blue Blood Moonset’s subdued shades and balanced composition, the gorgeous Klein blues in “Lunar Eclipse at the Blue Hour.” A delight!

    • Hi Lynn, Thank you so much. Yes, had the tripod set up…I was a bit bleary eyed for sure, and was fumbling…but that adds to the excitement. You have a great eye to notice all the changes in light and color…it was marvelous to watch. The Blue Hour was gorgeous and then the sun rose behind me and the moon started glowing as it set. Super BB Moonset was featured by the GG Nat. Park on their IG which was fun. Appreciate your thoughtful reaction. πŸ™‚ I heard it was raining up north?

  31. Fabulous fotos! Thanks for sharing.

  32. Beautiful photo essay! Thanks for sharing. It’s tough to pick one favorite as every picture is so breathtaking. 😊

  35. Beautiful, Jane.

  36. Jane!!! I was blown away by these shots. Just incredible……. the second one had to be difficult to capture with such clarity and detail. You must take a bow to the audience for these! Hugs, Suzie

  37. And what better setting for a gorgeous moon, than San Francisco? How absolutely gorgeous these images are! Utter magic.

  42. I love these images Jane they are gorgeous πŸ™‚

  43. Extraordinary photos. Your bridge was in just the right place!

  44. Wow!!! Where to begin? I loved the abstraction of Night Life. Lunar Eclipse at Blue and hour and Good Night Moon are magical. Great post.

  45. Wow, Jane! You made it look like magic! Loved your photographs!

  46. Total eye candy Jane! Loved them all but Good Night Moon my favorite!

    • Thanks so much, Capey. It was very cool, as you know. Glad you like that one, especially. The image of the moment right before was featured by the Golden Gate Nat. Park Service on Instagram which was exciting. Hope you are doing well.

  47. Awestruck in the UK….you do get everything bigger and better in the USA!!

  48. Absolutely stunning, Jane. Love the blue hour shot the best. But all of them are really amazing. You got in a great position there. Must have been worth the standing and wait in the cold. Bravo πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Mabel. It was amazing all the varying light and colors that happened and Blue Hour, a favorite, was incredible right before the sunrise. It was worth the early morning wake up… I sure needed a nap that next day. πŸ™‚

  49. Beautiful pictures, as always. Thank you for posting them. πŸ™‚

  50. Magic, Jane! All those are incredible photographs ! Enjoy your weekend!Marcus

  52. Wonderful pics! Showed it to my kids and they were amazed. We love it! Thanks for sharing.πŸ˜„

  53. All very cool, but that black and white photo is epic.

  54. Wow, absolutely stunning! And the eclipse too! Loved your build-up, could feel the excitement. We weren’t quite so fortunate in the UK. I got some decent supermoon pics but sadly no eclipse.

  55. Amazingly beautiful photo’s, as always… I also love the second photo, such a sharpness from front till back.. and it makes me wonder what’s happening behind all of these windows… (me, living in a little farm house in the middle of nowhere πŸ™‚

    • Hi Noortje, Thank you! It was very cool and I was so happy the fog hadn’t rolled in as expected. Glad you enjoyed Night Life, too. I wonder the same thing and I like how the 70-200mm lens compresses the scene.
Say hello to your quiet little farmhouse for me. 😊

  56. these are gorgeous

  57. Seems like it was a long night for you, and so worth it!

  58. All simply wonderful, but “Goodnight, Moon” took my breath away! Utterly superb! Worth staying up for without a doubt. Moonstruck indeed. Now I’ll quit gushing. πŸ˜€
