Surf’s Up, Manhattan Beach

If everybody had an ocean
Across the U. S. A.
Then everybody’d be surfin’
Like Californi-a
You’d seem ’em wearing their baggies
Huarachi sandals too
A bushy bushy blonde hairdo
Surfin’ U. S. A.

  1. Yeah, I want to go to the beach … 😀 You endure the big waves well and they are beautifully captured by your camera! My favorites are “Breaking” with the imposing waves! “Churning” a great beautiful picture! “Foam” the texture of the sea. 🙂 “Ocean Blues” I love the colors, the oxidation shows how the salty water of the sea affects the structures of its environment. But they still standing 🙂 Great shots, Jane!
    Have a nice day…
    Warm regards, Heidi

  5. Not just a fun day, a fabulous day, I’d say! Such beautiful, expertly made photos! That first image with the rolling wave, textured like – I don’t know what! – it’s very special. The second puts me right into the action. “Churning” puts me there more than I want to be! 😉 And I appreciate the abstract “Foam” included in the mix – all part of the whole, isn’t it? Not to mention the lyrics….

    • Hi Gunta, Ha! I can see why now that I think about it- the pier is perfectly situated. We share a fascination with waves and I am always amazed when I look at the shots close-up…all the great textures and detail. So glad you like them. Thanks for your enthusiastic response. Much appreciated.

  32. At first I thought you had to be in the water to capture such amazing shots and then I realised that maybe you were on the end of that pier. The breaking image is spectacular. Oh for some piers here so I could try and get something half decent! Love the peeling painted railings and the door sign too – now those are the kind of things that also catch my eye.

  33. Well, that certainly clarified a lot of those lyrics for me! I make words up if I don’t know exactly what a song is saying, and I’ve determined I made up an awful lot of those names over the years. Oh, and the photos are pretty amazing, too. 🙂

  39. These are some amazing sea-side shots, Jane. Think you captured the wet and wild of a surfer’s time in the water very nicely. Great timing with the massive rolling waves. From the perspective of the shots, I’m guessing you were on elevated land, and you had a lovely view of the beach 🙂 Seasons greetings and wishing you a wonderful end of the year 🙂
