You really have a good eye to compose patterns with light and lines ☺ .
Thanks very much, Frauke. I really enjoy seeking shadow play. Glad you like these images.
Every time I see shadows I think in the sensual nature of them as they caress the surfaces with a velvety touch and make the shapes visible to us, as an exotic make up. Your shadows has this beautiful nature, Jane, wonderful patterns in its silence.
Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment, Francis. Shadow play is wonderful to discover.
Felt very much inspired from this post! Thank you!!
Thank you very much mmkainuma. I’m so glad you enjoyed it and thanks for following me.
Inspired work!
Thank you so much, Michelle. I appreciate your visit. I simply love monochrome images.
They are beautiful 🙂
Great shadow px!
Thanks so much, Bruce. A favorite pastime looking for shadows. 🙂
I’d already seen that post, but thanks to you I’m trying to pay more attention to shadows.
Merci.
Merci, Brian!
De rien “Jeanne”. 😉
Beautiful photos and great perspectives in your shots!
Thanks so much, Michael. I’m so glad you enjoyed them– appreciate your visit.
You’ve done well to convert all your pictures in black and white so that the shadows are more pronounced. I like the abstract of the lines but my favorites are also “Vines and Lines” , “What Floor?” and “Pipe”.
Best regards, Heidi
Hi Heidi, Thank you. I often know if a scene will work well in monochrome when I am shooting it, and the high contrast scenes with prominent shadows are definites. I’m so glad these spoke to you– much appreciated.
these are beautiful you are extremely talented
Hello Riya, Thank you for your kind thoughts. I’m very pleased you enjoyed my work.
I wonder if it’s ever been assessed that people who are colour blind may actually find more meaning in the things they see in life than those of us with full appreciation of the colour spectrum.
What an interesting thought, Allan. I would think that losing one ability makes another sharper. You’ve got me thinking…thanks.
You’ve proved yourself a princess of abstractions.
Thanks, Steve. Great fun to search for them. Also, it’s the first time I’ve been called a princess. 🙂
I’m loving all of the lines, shapes, and patterns! Awesome captures 🙂
Thank you so much, Kyla. 🙂
‘Vines and Lines’, what a beautiful image so full of stories.
Thank you so much, Karen. You’d be surprised where this is… in a parking garage in SF. I admire it often when I am grocery shopping…stories, indeed. Very pleased you like it.
Una Serie Realmente Hermosa… En La Fotografía Siempre Prestamos Atención A La Luz, Pocas Veces A Resaltar Las Sombras… Un Saludo.
Muy cierto. Muchas gracias, Jose.
Very good. Shadows are one thing I miss completely in Photography.
I will pay more attention…
🙂
Thank you, Brian. Spotting them is something that happens to be in the forefront my mind. Conversely, for me, it’s all about looking for the light. Glad you enjoyed this series.
I did. It is a matter of training the eye. I tend to “notice” things many people don’t see. And shoot. I have become very sensitive to light lately because we moved into a new neighbourhood, with colonial houses and colours. So the same… house changes altogether depending on the time of day and the light. 🙂
(I just need to train myself to think shadows…)
Have a great week-end Jane
Like your elevator shot. 🙂
Thank you for noticing that one, David. I thought the reflections were very cool.
Great urban photos. I can feel the mood from the shadow. And also you can see these photos as a urban abstract photography

Vines and lines is my favourite. While I like the black and white, I wonder what it looks like in colour.
Hi Lisa, I’m so glad you like that one. Interesting that you wondered– I really like the color version, too, but decided to do a completely monochrome post so it didn’t make it this time. Someday soon… 🙂 Thank you for your kind reaction.
