Treasuring Nature on the California Coast

I wish that all of nature’s magnificence, the emotion of the land, the living energy of place could be photographed.

    • Hi Lisa, Thanks! It has been great fun exploring after the rain let up. Nature is coming to life. Those “little” seals are amazing and the males pictured can weight up to 4,500 lbs and grow to 13 feet. They are enormous which is hard to tell in these images. I caught their sweeter side. 😄 The pups are quite cute!

  16. We do live on an amazing planet. Why we want to screw it up, and for a buck, I will never know. Makes me wonder about all those who want to take this planet and turn it into a drab, ugly place that they will give to their grandchildren. Sad. It is so so sad.

    • I couldn’t agree more, Don. It is hard to understand especially the denial that is going on. Very depressing. My hope is that photography documents and provides awareness and appreciation of the gifts around us. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

  25. The repetitiveness of the Lesser Scaups and the singularity of the Snowy Plover jumps out at me. It also reminds of picture drawn of a penquin, a zebra and dalmation on an all white snow filled background with the black areas already filled in. The caption is: “coloring picture for lazy people”

    • Hi April, They were so active and incredible. Loping around chasing one another, barking and grunting. The images don’t really convey how huge they are. We figured that were sparring over the nearby female who made her getaway to the ocean while this was happening. Glad you enjoyed this set…thanks so much!
