Absolutely beautiful shots, Jane. I especially like the “first mate!” We hope to explore that part of the country next year. You’ve given us some great ideas of where to go.
You’ve captured some beautiful sentiments of nostalgia within these photos ~ there is something about ports around the Puget Sound area that seem to take me back to the times when old fishing villages were places of discovery around the world… And then you dot the ‘i’ in discovery with the story-telling photos that follow. And incredible series, the dog in the boat brings such a great smile 🙂 Very happy to see you treat Friday Harbor so well with this post. Wonderful work Jane ~
Once again, lovely images from an area I have been many a time myself. I love how you tell the story of Friday Harbor with both overviews and close-ups.
Hi PJB, Sure! Processed first in LR for exposure, etc. Then in Nik’s Analog Efex Pro for the monochrome and texture. Do you use Nik? Glad you liked them, thank you.
Hi, I was actually in another window looking at this and see that it is free now. This is a software that I had looked at a few years ago. Will probably go ahead and install today. Thanks so much for talking to me about this.
Nope! That was a strange trip. I was in the corporate world those days… I flew 36 hours from Shanghai to San Juan for a 36 hour conference (including sleep time!). So many of us stayed back for a day…. Shall… maybe.. post some stuff next week
That is the problem with these corporate trips. I used to get flown into The Netherlands for a 4 hour meeting. So, I would try and fix meetings with other people around the official meeting. The trick was always to try and get someone to take you for lunch. Especially in the NL
Not so, in our office in Switzerland. Now, my travels are confined to cheap hotels in India! But, I enjoy them more
Red white & blew blew me away..great set! Thanks for sharing – ds
Thank you, Diane! That’s a favorite.
Amazing pictures. That’s all i have to tell you 🙂 Really awesome job!
Thank you very much, Florian. Much appreciated!
exquisite photos….as always….a great EYE😜
Thank you, April, dear friend. Always great to see your response. 😉
Absolutely beautiful shots, Jane. I especially like the “first mate!” We hope to explore that part of the country next year. You’ve given us some great ideas of where to go.
Hi Patti, Glad you are planning a trip there…you will enjoy the photography and nature. Maybe you’ll run into First Mate. 🙂 Thanks so much.
You’re very welcome, Jane. Your shots are inspiring.
Great collection of photos, that, like a puzzle, complete the picture of the harbour more and more.
What a lovely compliment, Rabirius. Thanks so much.
You’re very welcome.
Stunnings composition! I love ❤ "Contemplation" but, all are magnificent! have a nice weekend 🙂
Thanks very much, Jacinto!
The Puget Sound is one of the most scenic places. Glad you found another tall ship.
Hi David, Yes! You are right, I have a thing for these tall masts…😊 ..,you remember from Stockholm. Thank you!
This looks like such a beautiful place to be, Jane, and your photographs are just magnificent.
I especially love the lighthouse. Simply perfect.
Thanks, Lisa. The lighthouse and area seemed like we were in another era. Glad you enjoyed.
Taking the ferry boat ride to Friday Harbor is one of my most favorite things in this world.
Hi Charlie, I can see why! I loved that part of the trip, too. Thanks for stopping by to see my photos.
Gorgeous Jane!
Thanks so much! What a gorgeous part of the country.

Particularly drawn to ” Good old days ” photo… Struck a nostalgic cord I suppose…
Hi Linda, Me, too. These small independent bookstores are, sadly, rare to see these days. Glad you enjoyed. Thank you.
I’ve never been an old timey sailor so I can’t say I felt nostalgic, but I did think the photos were lovely, Jane.
Ha! Love your response, Jay. I just like knowing people with boats. 😉 happy you enjoyed the images. Thank you.
I love the colors and reflections in that second photo, Jane.

Thanks so much, Randall. I think this area is in your neck of the woods? I loved the small town feel (minus the tourists) of this beautiful island.
Such a pretty series…everyone beautifully framed.
Thanks so much, Paula. I really enjoyed finding these small scenes.
Once again, lovely images from an area I have been many a time myself. I love how you tell the story of Friday Harbor with both overviews and close-ups.
A very appealing serie of photographs, It made me feel at home as I live by the ocean with fishingboats and a tiny harbour.
How lovely, Lena. Happy this post made you feel at home. I sure loved photographing this special place. Thank you.
Excelentes imágenes, Jane. Saludos.
Muchas gracias, Tony. 😊
Would you care to say how you processed “Lighthouse Memory”? I like the textured feel to that one.
Hi PJB, Sure! Processed first in LR for exposure, etc. Then in Nik’s Analog Efex Pro for the monochrome and texture. Do you use Nik? Glad you liked them, thank you.
No, I am currently using Lightroom and Photoshop. Are you using Nik as a plug-in or a stand alone? Thanks!
Hi- As a plug-in to LR. It’s free now! Bought by Google… had to pay for it years ago, but it was worth it. Silver Efex Pro is a fave.

My pleasure. Happy to help if you have any questions once you get started. Enjoy.
That’s a very kind offer, thanks 🙂
Gorgeous shots … Amazing light, love the way you captured it!
Thanks, Louise. Full moons and sunsets with some Orcas mixed in…such fun.
Very cool photos Jane – I especially like the first one and the B&W. Looks like a beautiful day!
Thanks, Mike. A special place. Glad you liked the black and whites, too.
Oh. I went there years back… Got some decent shots in!
Hi Rajiv, I’m so glad you have been there. Hope you saw some Orcas. Thanks!
Nope! That was a strange trip. I was in the corporate world those days… I flew 36 hours from Shanghai to San Juan for a 36 hour conference (including sleep time!). So many of us stayed back for a day…. Shall… maybe.. post some stuff next week
Now that’s a whirlwind business trip, Rajiv!
