The National Park Service celebrated its 100th birthday this week.
I appreciate the work that the NPS does to maintain these extraordinary places of natural beauty.
Each shot in a park requires creative choices of how best to frame the landscape.
“One doesn’t stop seeing. One doesn’t stop framing. It doesn’t turn off and turn on. It’s on all the time.”

You do such great service for the National Parks with this post, Jane – wonderful feel for each of these places, iconic images, yet so unique and creative. The shot of the Badlands is breathtaking, and while I have so many favorite parks (Olympic being my favorite just because I know it well), there is something that draws me towards the Badlands…I really need to see it.

Hi Randall, Your thoughts are so appreciated, thank you. The Badlands are on top of my favorites list – quite otherworldly and surprising. Also, Olympic is at the top after the magical walk we had in the rain at Hoh Rainforest. Superb. I’m happy you are as enamored with the parks as I. 😊

Lovely shots. I’ve been lucky enough to have been to all of those spots, although it’s been too many years since I’ve seen most of them. A recent trip to Mount Rainier National Park reminded me just how spectacular these places are.

A nice reminder of Bryce Canyon – I was there last year. No clouds on that day, but a lot of wind. Great shot with the surfer.
