A truly beautiful blog, must visit you more often Jane. So little time we seem to have to see so much beauty in the world.
Magnífica serie de imagenes de la naturaleza! color, luz y un buen trabajo, son el mejor de los componentes! Cheers, Jane!
Muchas gracias , Jacinto . Muy apreciado. Cheers!
Jane, you have an awesome blog, there is so much inspiration to be found here! Thanks for sharing your work!
fantastic shots, especially the first one Grant Street – fabulous
Hi Ms. D, That was a magical moment…you know when it happens…what it’s all about. So glad you enjoyed this series. Thank you!
I actually gasped…aloud, even…at the opening shot. Absolutely wonderful: the color (reds!) the busyness of the street and even the street itself. Wow.
Patricia, That means a lot to me, thank you so much. That was one of those “aha moments” in making an image that made my day…or week…or year. 🙂 This is a great spot in Chinatown.
Beautiful and interesting set of photos! Thanks for sharing. Bye. Kamila
Thank you very much, Kamila. I’m happy you enjoyed this series.
Another fantastic series Jane (as if you’d ever disappoint 🙂 ). The first shot is one that immediately jumps out as a classic. The bright umbrella and in a sense a very iconic image of a Chinese grandmother making her way across the street at her own pace…not a concern but just to make it to the other side. Beautiful.
Beautiful post Jane!
Thanks so much, Maria!
My pleasure 🙂
Beautiful series Jane ; well done. Eid you end up taking the photography class you were thinking about?
Thanks. I’m on my third which starts next week. Has been motivational and interesting.
All beautiful shots Jane and they look so good together. Love the dazzle of the egret on the lagoon!
Hi Patti- I thought they made a nice series– glad you like the collection. That egret was one of my last shots of the day…glad I stopped! Thanks for your kind words.
These are beautiful images Jane, and inspiring words to go with them, have a wonderful Easter.
Hi Karen, I loved the light in these and I’m glad you do, too. Thanks very much and Happy Easter to you and yours.
Beautiful. I love them all 🙂
Hi Uday, I’m so glad you like these. Thanks so much. 🙂
Lovely quote and images. I think my favourite photography quote is from Susan Sontag, perhaps you’ve used it before,
“All photographs are memento mori. To take a photograph is to participate in another person’s (or thing’s) mortality, vulnerability, mutability. Precisely by slicing out this moment and freezing it, all photographs testify to time’s relentless melt.”
I love this, Becky. Coincidentally, I am reading “On Photography”. I’m happy this post spoke to you– thank you.
Oh, I hope you enjoy it! Sontag is brilliant 🙂
I can’t believe I haven’t read it! There’s a new Annie Leibovitz show “Women” in town that I am really looking forward to.
Make sure to post about it!
A lovely set by a wonderfully talented photographer. If I had to pick I would say ‘Stream & Rocks’ is my favorite.
Hi Denise, That’s so nice- thank you. I’m happy that Stream caught your eye. A quieter image and a favorite.
I like especially this rainy day. No matter the weather, there is always something interesting to shoot.
Hi Awa, So true — and it’s especially great when it’s raining. Thanks for your visit and I’m glad you enjoyed these.
wonderful photos….stream n rocks fascinating….very thought provoking!!!
Hi April, It’s great exploring the state parks near us and I love finding nature’s details. Thanks so much!
Hi Jane. Your work is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. I love how you’ve captured the light in these photos. And the quotes are terrific.
Hi Patti, Thank you very much. I’ve been inspired by the burst of springtime in California these past few weeks. Glad you enjoyed this series along with the quotes.
We are a few weeks behind you. But I did see my first crocuses yesterday. 🙂
Jane, these are magical. I love the light in the Grant Street shot and the three figures all heading to the left.
Hi Jane– I’m so glad you like them, thank you. I can imagine you doing Grant Street justice with your paintbrush. Talk to you soon.
I really like that shot of Grant Street. Very cinematic.
Thank you, Allan. It was certainly a pleasing day for photos–and I love “cinematic” — it felt that way.
Great shots! The umbrella, the flowers, the stream.. wonderful work Jane 🙂
Hi Pieter– Happy you like this series. Thanks very much.
Wow! I am impressed with every single one of your “light” photos!
Hi Dor, I enjoyed shooting these the past few weeks with spring coming and all the different weather patterns. Glad you enjoyed them– thanks so much.
Rainy day is mesmerizing!
Thank you so much, Kathy. Great to hear from you.
Jane, your Grant St photo is gorgeous. The colors look like you took it during an eclipse and the lanterns overhead mimic the rain coming down. This is a terrific image.

Hi Allan, I love your interpretation of Grant Street. The light during the parting storm was magical. I’m so glad you like this image– thank you very much.
Lovely post…. Love that last quote and always the egret…
Hi Linda, I’m glad that quote spoke to you- I love it, too. It’s been a great couple of weeks of photography and I’m happy you enjoyed this collection. Thanks, friend!
Everything is true…but you need the ‘eye’ to read it and you have those EYES!
That’s very kind of you to say, Paula. Thanks so much and I’m happy that you enjoyed these moments of “light.”
That “chinatown” street shot is pure awesome!
Thanks, Herbert! That means a lot.
Beautiful post. I like the quotes too. My favourite picture is the poppy.
Hi Lena, I just love California Poppies and now is the time when the wildflowers are blooming. The orange variety is pretty, too. Happy you enjoyed this series along with the quotes, which really hit home for me. Thank you!
Beautiful collection.
Thanks very much, Jon. Appreciate your visit.
Rainy day is my favorite too. Very atmospheric. But I love them all

Lovely images and great study of light. (Suzanne)
I’m happy you enjoyed this collection, Suzanne. I’ve had fun exploring in California the past few weeks. Thank you!
That Grant Street shot is super. It’s been a while since you had that much rain in SF in a winter, right?
Hi Bunty- We were in a severe drought that’s been alleviated somewhat by the recent rains. Makes for some good photography days! Happy you like this one in Chinatown. Thank you.
Gorgeous, as usual. I do love that Rainy Day shot. i can look at it for a long time…
That’s so nice, Ann-Christine. The light was special that day as the storm began to clear. Thank you very much.
Wondeful…feels like I’m there ☺️
That’s a wonderful compliment, Hedy. Thanks very much.
