Light.
The first element I notice when exploring a setting.
The quality of light inspires me to photograph.

Well, that’s it then. Instead of another trip to Alaska I’m thinking I need a little morning coffee in Oahu.
You are inspirational. 😀
Hello Dunelight– Thanks so much for your kind comment and visit. Alaska is amazing but a cup of coffee on this beach… well… glad you enjoyed this one.
Such beautiful shots Jane ~ bringing a slice of paradise to us all.
A great silhouette, not only of the person on the beach but also of the coastline, in your “Blue Moon” photo. Night light captures tend to be so tricky, but this one is beautifully crisp.
Atreyee- Thank you so much. When I saw moonbeams on the bay, I envisioned a person on the waterline and fortunately, my trusty husband was at my side. He held his pose nicely for the long exposure, didn’t he? 🙂 Happy you enjoyed this one.
He absolutely did!
First shot; spectacular! I photographed palms in Cuba for my tree/forest photography project, and I hoped to get a sunset/sunrise silhouette like this. I failed. This is sharp.
That moonlit exposure is a brilliant composition. Sophistication through simplicity.
Hi Allan- This was a beautiful morning and i saw those backlit palms as I was sipping my coffee. And, I have a very cooperative husband who was my “human form” in blue moon. I was happy that exposure worked. Thanks very much for your kind comment.
Super shots, Jane! Excellent use of light.
Thank you, Uday. The morning light was especially captivating here. Glad you enjoyed this set.
Great photos…Looks like a very ‘inspirational’ visit!! Can’t take my eyes off of the ‘Blue Moon’….Fantastic!!
Hi April, Inspirational in many ways- great week. Bob was the very still subject in Blue Moon. Thank you!
You have certainly caught/seen the light Jane. Good shots…
Thanks so much, Pauline. It was easy on this gorgeous island. Hope all is well with you.
We are going house sitting again next month.
New Zealand?
No just down the road to Ocean Shores, just south of Byron Bay. But then on to NZ for my son’s wedding.
How wonderful. Congratulations and have fun at the wedding.
Thanks Jane
Did you go there for Bob’s birthday because of the fabulous ice cream?
In Vilhofsen and leaving the river cruise tomorrow to spend 3.5 days in Prague before returning to Maine to celebrate Ray’s birthday. He will leave the next day to return to Austin, but the kits and i will not return until Labor Day.
Great shots as usual! Xoxo Leah

Thanks, Leah! We were shave ice fans, for sure. Your trip sounds wonderful- can’t wait to hear about your adventures. xo
So much to be inspired by there, and you are definitely making the most of it Jane! Lovely captures–definitely convey peace and contentment. Are you still there??
Thanks so much, T. Yes, you are absolutely right – that is exactly what I was feeling. We are home.
Such peaceful beautiful shots… Thanks Linda
Thank you, Linda. It was marvelously peaceful. Glad you enjoyed.
Wonderful series, I like them all!
Thank you very much, Paula. Much appreciated.
I love the black and whitre ones – great work!
Hi Kathy, I’m so glad you like the black and white. Thank you!
Jane, these are breathtakingly beautiful; the clouds, the clouds – wonderful 🙂
Hi Andrew- Thanks very much. The Hawaiian landscape makes it a bit easier… the puffy clouds in Hawaii are fabulous. Glad you like these.
Especially loved the first one but they’re all gorgeous shots.
Thank you very much, Maverick. I loved the silhouette of the palm. Glad you do, too.
Stunning set of photographs, Jane. I really like the second one where the sun is being cheeky, peeking out from behind the clouds and giving us a tease of it’s golden glory. Walks along the beach are so soothing, aren’t they 🙂 Hope you enjoyed taking photos there that day 🙂
Ha- Good one, Mabel. It was neat the way it was refracting on the clouds. Thanks so much.
I don’t care where in the world you took these shots Jane, they look so good! You found the light big time!
Thanks, Patti. Means a lot coming from a fellow seeker. Appreciate it!
I am always a fan of light shinning through the clouds! Hawaii is a beautiful place.
Hi Anabell- I am a cloud lover, too, especially backlit. Happy you liked this set. Thanks so much.
The one time I was in Hawaii I had a terrible time and never wanted to go back. My wife wants to get me back there and now your photos might have just sealed the deal. Beautiful!
Hi Emilio– Aw, you must give HI another try… I’m happy that these posts have softened you into reconsidering. I also love Kauai for its natural beauty. Thanks so much for appreciating!
Nice challenge

Are you going to be drug out of there kicking and screaming? Beautiful!
Yes, Sharon! What a great week celebrating and exploring. Thank you!
Beautiful photos, Jane. As many times as I’ve been to Oahu I’ve never been over to Kailua. Thanks for opening my eyes.
Hi Angeline- Me, too. I had only been through Honolulu and now realize how gorgeous Kailua is and an easy drive to the city. Glad you enjoyed these- thank you.
Really stunning, Jane. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Diane. Now I see why west coasters spend so much time in Hawaii.
I love those peaceful shots 🙂
And that is exactly how it felt, Maria. I have found a new love in Kailua. Thanks so much.
Good for you!
Lovely shots
Thanks very much, Wandering Memory. I’m happy you enjoyed this set.
