Rather than posting new images, I am compelled instead to remember the victims in the senseless and tragic shooting in Charleston, which until recently, was my home for fifteen years.
My thoughts are with the people of Charleston and the families and friends who are grieving.
For me, it’s not a week for color. This image symbolizes South Carolina and with hope, issues will cease being about black and white.
Lovely post and inspiring thoughts.
Thank you, Patti. A sad and moving time. Uplifting response, too.
Even though we are half a world away…I constantly wonder at how such things can happen. Or why they happen in this day and age. And at risk of upsetting many in South Carolina, I was surpprised to see that the Confederate Flag was/is still being flown on Government buildiings. May peace and forgiveness soon settle over Charleston and South Carolina.
Thank you for your kind thoughts, Woolly Muses. I couldn’t agree more. It is with hope that the flag is in the process of finally coming down and healing continues.
simple and so beautiful 🙂
Such sad times. Thank you, Joshi.
❤
Thanks, Maria.
Once again I am lost for words . . . .
Difficult to put words to such senseless acts. Thanks for your visit, Patti.
So sad and such a poignant photo Jane. When oh when will America do something about the gun laws.
Thank you, Pauline. That is the question.
So poignant!!
Love to you
Did you have dinner with Brian and Kelley?
Have fun
XOXOXO Helen
Thank you, Helen. We did! Will send you pics. xo
Lovely tribute Jane, well said. Sad for charleston the be the focus on such a tragic story.
Hi Tina, For some reason this was in my spam box… just found it. What a day today was for emotional events. Thanks for checking in.
Beautifully said girlfriend…..wonderful photo….Thanks!!
Thank you, April, my friend.
Thank you for your thoughts and insights
Thank you, Jeny, for checking in.
So tragic – what a wonderful and erie photo that speaks volumes. It is time for a politician in South Carolina to have the courage to “be the change you wish to see in the world,” as Gandhi said. It is long overdue to retire the confederate flag to the history books. How sad that the flag that fueled the hate of the terrorist was not even allowed to be lowered to half mast due to SC law. Politicians that embrace change have my ear and I hope they are listening.
Thank you, Debbie, for your thoughtful response.
Thank you, Jane.
Thanks for reading, Patricia.
Really nice and contemplative photograph 🙂
Thank you, Peter. I thought it was fitting for the moment.
It’s also not just about Charleston or SC as the press seems to be more than making that connection. We’re all culpable in this affair as this kind of inbred hatred and untreated lunacy and gun allowance is present in every state and pervasive through our culture.
Jennifer
Well said, Jennifer, and I completely agree. Thank you for your insightful words.
Flags flying at half mast. So is my heart.
Oh, so true and so sad, Jane.
Such a simple but great photo…
I’m glad you thought it was fitting, Alma. Thanks for letting me know.
So very sad, Jane…and yet the unbelievable strength of character of all Charlestonians is burning brightly. Thank you.
So true, Mike. Agree. And, Joe Riley continues to lead with compassion in these times of crisis.
When will we ever learn
When will we ever learn. Perfect, Susan.
A lovely way to reflect, remember and honor… The lone palmetto is so appropriate.
Must be very painful in Charleston, Linda. We are following closely from afar.
Good photo and very suitable to remember this sad occasion, my heart goes out to these people , left behind to cope with the losses
The community has really come together to support them. Thank you for your kind words, Paula.
Such a waste. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.
Agree, Madhu. A waste.

Sally and Jock- Heartwarming to know friends on the other side of the world are there. A painful reminder of the similar tragedy you experienced in Sydney. I appreciate your kind words and I hope you all are doing well. I’ll be in touch.
