  1. I do like your b&w photos!
They are great! I’ll be back for sure!

  2. “Contrast is what makes photography interesting.” ~Conrad Hall

    Amen!

  3. Lovely set Jane, I especially like Mind Meld – excellent timing!

  4. Great shots, individually and as a collection.

  5. Some real beauties, Jane. The dance of light and shadow is fascinating. I love that first quote by Marc Riboud. I’ve been known to do that 🙂 It makes for a whack of photos to go through on return.

  6. Una Serie Impresionante, Hermoso COntraste Entre Las Luces Y Las Sombras…. Cuanto Más Las Miro, Más Me Gustan. Un Saludo.

  7. What a. Beautiful post- photos so artistic and provocative , quotes apt and additive. Your angles and shadows are striking , esp. love the shadows and umbrellas and side gate.

  8. Shaw quote so true! Mind Meld is neat espec with the people in there to give perspective. Interesting shadows in this set ; Quad Corridor the ‘white’ light shadow patterns – very cool Jane.

    • Hi Diane– So glad you liked this set– fun to put together. Shaw quote really hits home, doesn’t it? I, too, am fascinated by the varying tones in shadow images. Thank you for sharing your point of view.

  9. Terrific eye to spot and photograph these wonderful scenes Jane! Well done.

  10. Great selection of lines and shadows from down under!

  11. Loved your study of shadows, and thank you for the Victor Hugo quote.

  12. Another visual feast. The one of the rocks and the clouds is a most impressive contrast.

    • Hi David–I was thrilled that the clouds gathered while we were there. In addition to traditional landscapes, I tried to work on some abstract images like this one. I’m happy they spoke to you– thank you very much.

  13. Great series! You do good work! Love the first one in particular…

  14. Great stuff, Jane. I also like the “Shadows and Umbrella”, but also smiled at the “Mind Meld.” 🙂

    • Hi Larry, Thanks! I saw the umbrella shot unfolding and I’m glad I could get a few shots off before she slipped away. Mind Meld was a very happy split second capture. I appreciate your comment.

  15. I love looking at your pictures–there is never a sameness to your work, but always a fresh approach to your subjects. As always–well done.

  16. I did not realize The University of Florida had a dormitory at Surry Hill! Great contrasts.

  17. Another great series Jane. I enjoy viewing your work tremendously and look forward to every post! Great use of light, composition, and texture.

  18. Always a treat to see examples of your perceptive eye. Keep the images coming,

  19. Great study in shadows. I especially liked the contrast between the soothing feel of the
University of Adelaide and Blue and Orange shots.

    • Thanks so much, Jane. The sandstone colored buildings do have a soft feel especially in early morning light. And the vibrant homes in some neighborhoods in Sydney are great for the lens. Glad you enjoyed this set.

  20. Very nice, Jane. Love the yoga header shot and am intrigued by Mind Meld. Also enjoyed the Shaw quote.

    • Hi Sharon– Thank you very much. I remember you liked the black and white version of Mind Meld, too. It is an interesting spot. I thought the yoga shot would bring a little zen to my site and the Shaw quote really hits home with all the pixels in my life!

  21. Interesting photos of shadows and lines … Your first photo from Adelaide’s University is so beautiful ! …
And so is Blue and Orange , Surry Hills …
Hope everything is OK with you …
    // Maria 🙂

  22. Thanks, Jane. Loved your shadows – it will inspire me to get out there and use them in my shots. The Mind Meld was a particularly interesting image.

    • Thank you, Brian. It’s always a hope that the sun cooperates. Mind Meld is a cool art installation – a portrait of Jack Munday who was an environmentalist– it has a staircase running through the portrait. I appreciate your comment.

  23. Great shots Jane!! Thanks for sharing!

  24. Not sure what’s going on with your systems, BM. Not happening here. Hope you enjoyed my post!

  25. This is a riot. My inbox says Travels and Trifles time stamped at 9:44 pm. So I say to Tina how did you do that during the wedding. She looks at email and says this is Jane.
    Strange.
    BM

  26. Stunning images, Jane! There are several that really inspire me.
    Wonderful!

  27. Beautiful, beautiful series of photographs, Jane. Each one as lovely as the next! The blue and orange spoke to me today, but all are lovely!

  28. Beautiful shots Jane! Your use of shadows is amazing! I especially like Shadows and Umbrella!

Love to hear what you think...
