Water’s Edge, Sonoma Coast, CA

“There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more” ~ George Gordon Byron

  6. I liked the Cousteau and Longfellow quotes – great photos to go with them, Jane.

  7. Beautiful post Jane. And no fog 🙂 !

  8. Beautiful, Jane. It appears you are having a satisfying summer! Hugs, Suzie

  9. I can almost feel the smell of the sea , beautiful photos. Your last one, of Bodega waves, is so full of life . // Maria 🙂

  10. A lot of the San Diego coast can look like that too, except for your first shot with the coastal flowers. I’ve never seen this much here and it looks very pretty.

  11. Absolutely some of the prettiest shots of the Ca. coastine that I’ve seen in a very long time.

  12. Pretty Coastal flowers my fav with the winding twisty coastline in the distance; the Cliffs & Foam beckons me to climb down there to just lay and gaze skyward. Watch out for rogue waves when you are doing this stuff Jane, Holy cats! dsup

    • Hi Diane, Coastal Flowers is a spot that I’ve returned to many times. I think the Ice Plant was radiant this time!
I never venture out on the rocks and you never see people swimming- just surfers- a treacherous stretch of coast. Thanks so much for your comments.

  13. I think the “morning fog” is my favorite. Always enjoy following your journey. Things on the East Coast have been wet and steamy. Your photos are like nature’s air conditioning.

  14. Lovely collection of photos Jane! And as always, the quotations are so perfectly suited.

  15. Jane, great shots all of them. You can hear the sea. Looks as though you all are having a great summer. K

  16. I can hear the surf breaking in your pix. There’s a wonderful immediacy about them.

  17. Jane,
Your first quote, from Byron, was my father’s all time favorite. We said it over and over to one another, in the words of Faulkner….. “as he lay dying”. Your photos do the quotation the justice it deserves and bring tears to my eyes.

  18. Jane – these are amazing shots….thanks for sharing

  19. Fantastic seaside views Jane!

  20. Beautiful landscape shots.

  21. It has to be the best coastline in America. I will never forget that coast. I only went as far South as Carmel and not too far North. Unfortunately I did not have a camera with me at the time. You must have some nice prints. Print them big!

    • I agree, Andaremos. It is spectacular and well preserved. You must return with your camera sometime. I agree, the images do call for a large print! Thanks so much for enjoying these.

  22. Amazing post and incredible photos, they´re great! 😀 One of them has inspired me to write, can I share a link to this post in my blog? 😉

  23. Love the Coast photos!!!

Love to hear what you think...
